High Quality EPA Omega-3 Supplement
I've recently started taking various supplements, including two Omega-3 Fish Oil products - this OmegaVia EPA 500 mg supplement, and another product from OmegaVia - their higher dosage supplement which contains a total of 1105 mg Omega-3 (780 mg EPA, 260 mg DHA, and 65 mg 'other' Omega-3). The various forms of Omega-3 are all needed in order to obtain the desired benefits, and this product adds to the EPA form of Omega-3 also provided in the other OmegaVia product to provide a very effective total dosage of all forms of Omega-3. I take one gel of each daily. There are a wide variety of Omega-3 supplement products available on Amazon and elsewhere. I selected this product for the following reasons:- this Omega-3 supplement is independently tested for purity and potency by IFOS - the "International Fish Oil Standards Program" - to provide assurance that it contains what is claimed. I feel that this is very important.- this is a US-made product- percentage of EPA Omega-3 per capsule is very high (87%) so that the capsule size is not overly large in order to contain the amount of fish oil and Omega-3 to be delivered- capsules are enteric coated- cost per capsule is reasonable and competitiveFor a very comprehensive technical comparison of this product to other Omega-3 supplements available on Amazon, I recommend reading RWM's review. He has provided a very extensive analysis.I'm also impressed that OmegaVia has a very informative website with considerable information on the company and its products (the website does not yet include this EPA 500 product, which is new, but the company has assured me that it will be updated to include information on this product shortly). The company executives are all identified, the company address is given, and contact information is provided. This is a welcome display of transparency in an industry where many companies seem to be selling questionable products and provide very limited information regarding their operations. The company also sells direct from their website - pricing is competitive with Amazon if you order multiple quantities, and shipping is free.I have not yet used these supplements for sufficient time to determine whether or not they are effective in reducing my triglycerides as claimed. I do not have a triglycerides problem but decided to take supplements as part of an overall program to improve my health and avoid problems as I grow older. I will update this review in 6 months or so if there is anything significant to mention regarding any effect I may see in my own health.

Rapid shipping: thank you.
I had just completed a try of another brand, a vegan brand and, am back with this understanding I'd had no problems with it and, only good from it. I only tried something else because..... wondered whether I actually need dha, and how algal oil would compare with fish oil in terms of digestion. This product, the one for which I'm writing the review, did not give digestion problems, and, I can take one capsule and get the upper limit of what is usually recommended in a search for amounts of omega 3 actually needed by older persons. And, epa is more important for them than dha, again, through research. I tried a vegan alternative - with high dha and lower epa it so happens - and do not want to continue with it.The omegavia product which is on subscribe & save is the high omega 3 product - much more than older people actually need.'Pain' in this case of the star ratings means, mood. I missed the high epa product when I was trying the vegan algal oil product. Noticed a difference.

Not fishy
Several years ago I became concerned about my triglyceride levels. After seeing information in an ad on my doctor's office wall about for a very expensive prescription form of pharmaceutical grade fish oil (which is supposed to help lower triglycerides) I sought information about the product to see what its ingredients were. My literature search pointed out that purified EPA, the fraction of fish oil that is the most beneficial in lowering triglycerides, was the main ingredient. During the literature search I also found out that fish oil contained mercury that was present in the fish before processing and concentration. The pharmaceutical grade fish oil is steam distilled to remove the mercury. I compared the pharmaceutical grade fish oil with numerous other OTC fish oils for sale. OmegaVia EPA 500 was the one that seemed to most closely resemble the expensive pharmaceutical oil in its properties and claimed positive benefits. I can't claim from a scientific basis that OmegaVia has led to a lowering of my triglycerides but they have gone down to a safe level. I was advised by my doctor to reduce or cut out red meat in my diet, and to do more aerobic exercise, both of which may have positively affected my triglyceride levels. However, I am continuing to take OmegiaVia EPA 500 because research suggests the EPA form of fish oil may have positive benefits to mental health and joint health, and because it is much cheaper than the pharmaceutic brand with similar ingredients.
