Definitely a help to my dogs and their quality of life, but the current cap is a little messy.
My dogs are definitely having an easier time in their old age since I started them on Welactin. I can see that they are more mobile, and it seems like they have less pain getting around. The box comes with a small measuring spoon, but I ditched that after counting how long it took me to fill the spoon to their prescribed amount, and now I just squirt the oil directly onto their food for a four-second count. This makes it so I do not have to clean the spoon every day.So, my dogs love this product, and I love how it has helped them, but my only gripe is the flip top for pouring the oil. My first bottle had a top that you opened completely, and it was connected on one edge. The inner cap had a hole in the center, so I could dispense the oil and then flip the top back on to store the bottle. It was nice and easy, and there was no spillage or dripping during the pouring process. My latest bottle has a top where you push down on one end of the cap, and the cap opens on an angle. The oil comes out on the one side of the cap instead of from the middle like my previous bottle, and I have found that this causes a lot more dripping when I pour the oil into their food. I now have to rinse the bottle every night, which is wasting product and causing a bit of a mess. I will continue to order Welactin, as it has made a big difference for my pugs, but I hope to get the old cap next time. If i do, I will keep it for any future bottles that come with the angled dispensing cap.

Impressed with This Health Supplement
This product is terrific, no doubt. It supports kidney function, which is absolutely essential for my dog. I love the fact that it's veterinarian formulated, ensuring safety and effectiveness. It's a bonus that it supports the immune system too. Being omega-3 rich, I have observed a visible improvement in my dog's coat. It also supports heart health which is so vital. The high-quality ingredients make me feel confident about using this product. Highly recommend it!

Has Seemingly Transformed My Dogs Vitality
I started giving my basset hounds this product a few years ago upon the recommendation of both their long-time veterinarian and that of a canine oncologist, whom I had asked what preventative steps I could take to reduce their chances of getting cancer. I did not expect to see any great, immediate changes in my dogs' behavior or outward health. However, within two weeks of using it, I was truly amazed by the difference it made in their energy, vitality, and over-all wellness, especially with regard to my older dog. His energy level shot through the roof and he started acting like a rambunctious two-year-old again (he was about six or seven at the time). My younger dog responded in the same way, but it was especially marked in my older dog. In the time my dogs have been on it, there have been some occasions when I have run out of the product for two or three weeks at a time; at such times, I have definitely noticed the difference its absence makes. Especially in my older dog, I see a definite reduction in energy, playful mood, and endurance when I stop using the supplement for any substantial length of time. I have recommended a trial of this product to various family and friends for their dogs after seeing what a positive difference it has appeared to make in mine. The one caveat I will add is that -- as with most fish oil supplements, I believe -- some dogs with digestive issues like GERD may have problems tolerating it. My older dog is such a dog and so I only give him about half of the daily recommended dose of the product or I skip days between doses if he starts having issues with burping, reflux, etc. Even though my younger dog has no such GI issues, it is simpler to give them both the same amount of product and that is what I do, so I cannot speak for the effect of the full, recommended dose. However, this reduced dose usually is tolerated by my older gent, and his behavior seems to indicate that it is still enough to make a quite remarkable improvement in his outward health and vitality. Nutramax seems to be a responsible company and seems to project a sense of integrity that also helps me to feel more hopeful that the product is well and responsibly sourced and manufactured. I hate the fact that so many pharmaceuticals are no longer USA-sourced and I definitely would seek the products of any domestic company whose standards are of high quality. I am hopeful this is the case with Nutramax, as my dogs seem to have done so very well with this product.

Very messy to dispense, but works well.
Long review but I think I’ve added all the useful info I’ve got. We’ve been using Welactin gel caps for over a year for our German Shepherd with dry itchy skin. Due to his size and the required amount of pills needed per day for effectiveness we decided to switch to the straight liquid. There’s really no easy way to dispense and measure without making and absolute mess. The liquid drips down the side of the cap and then the bottle making everything greasy and requiring clean up after every use. I feel like we’re wasting what we’re saving just by the amount that’s spilled per use.As far as the product itself and it’s usefulness for dry itchy skin; it works well. It’s not a miracle and it does take some time so be patient and keep using it as directed on the package. We saw improvement after about 2-3 weeks of constant use with morning and night feedings. Our dog doesn’t really care for the gel caps, he tends to leave them in the bowl requiring coaxing to eat them. He will eat them eventually, but not without reassurance and encouragement. I have found them in random places around the house so I’d recommend watching your dog eat them if you’re not sure. When we switched to the liquid he had no problem and eats his food fine with it poured on top.I did notice the total liquid for his weight doesn’t match the gel caps? 2 gel caps or 1.5 “scoops” of liquid-this is way more than is in the caps. A little confused about this, I figured it would be 1 for 1 but apparently not.
