La Araña Muy Ocupada

I was very excited to see this in Spanish so ordered it for my Spanish nephew as I really like this book, slightly disappointed that the print quality is not the same as the English version... My sister in law was super pleased with it however, she struggles to find nice books in Spanish and loved this. For those unfamiliar with the story, it's a spider who won't play with the other animals as she is busy spinning her web, ultimately she catches her fly and is worn out and sleeps. The web is raised and you can feel the web as it grows with each page. Quite charming.

The book is exactly what I was looking for, but I was disappointed that the front cover (which is thick cardboard as it is a children's book) had dents in it - this was particularly sad given that I had bought this for a gift.I can't however fault the illustrations and stories of Eric Carle - they are timeless!

It is a shame that such a nice story has been so badly translated.The otherwise well-known American writer, Nancy Mercado, was clearly not the right choice for this job.
