ESE pods are a superior format over K-cup and other proprietary espresso and coffee pods, allowing me to make quick cups of Americano or Espresso, sometimes cappuccino with an automatic milk foamer in a Casabrews brewer. I've tried four colors of Cafe Borbone pods and find them all tasty. My go-to variety are the decafs to avoid loss of sleep if I have several cups in one day. At least some brewers (I also have a Mattinata) can turn one of these pods into a double Americano that is not too weak to pass for a rich cup of coffee.Another virtue of ESE pods is their compatibility with machines from several manufacturers. K-cups and Nespresso original evolved in that direction after lawsuits and patent expirations that opened the formats. ESE's nonproprietary design got this better from the beginning. Instead of vendor lock in there has been competition to make the pods excellent. Cafe Borbone is the tastiest I've had over the years and quite cost effective; there are several other good European kinds. The environmentally friendly aspects are a bonus. Not sure that the pod wrappers are actually recyclable paper in USA, but the pod including its filter paper can go into my home compost pile.Solid 5 stars for taste, economy, rapidity of use, long shelf life, flexibility, environmental aspects, more.

If you have an espresso machine that supports ESE pods, you’ll understand. They are easy to use and don’t produce non-biodegradable waste, and there are many different varieties. These make good espresso with nice crema and are reasonably priced.

Smells of defective beans (quakers). Shot has almost no flavor except for ash. Bought this for use in an office. Had low expectations but didn't expect it to be this bad. Illy ESE pods are the only other ones I've tired and they were much better; actually had some perceptible flavor. For some background I drink espresso from a Breville barista express at home and enjoy straight espresso from 3rd wave shops. However I also like a more conventional medium roast "generic tasting" coffee, (i.e. illy) and needed something to fit in the delonghi I have at my office that wouldn't make a mess. Im gonna stick with Illy from now on.

We didn't care for the overwhelming strong acidic taste of this coffee. If you like Starbucks than this is for you. If you like the cappuccinos and lattes in Europe, you will like The Italian brand Illy Better. Also, it was difficult to use in my Mr. Coffee machine vs the Illy brand, very hard to turn.

Makes a nice tasty cup of espresso. I had one, out of about twenty that I have used, break open while brewing. It could have been me, I might have been to rough while loading it. And to be fair I have had that problems with other brands too. I am happy with this product and will order it again
