SH-2 Lab Magnetic Stirrer Hot Plate Stir Plate, Magnetic Mixer Dual Controls for Heating and Stirring (Green)

This item is built well and withstands the heat, but does not have a temperature reading function. Gets to about 300 degrees F when turned on for about 30-45 minutes. I wouldn't recommend heating anything in large quantities, as it takes FOREVER to heat up. Example, I tried to heat 550mL of Water and it took 1 hour and 4 minutes to heat to boiling temp. Not a bad buy for quick heating smaller experiments, but large stuff is a No. Does have a mixing feature that works 10/10 for even large quantities.

I ordered it same day delivery and -- led indicator doesn't turn on, neither does the stir engine, but it does get hot enough to bring 500 ml of water right to boiling range as I saw some bubbling steam and watched water level drop 100 ml in an hour. It would be OK for my purposes but only if it would stir! I called Amazon and they issued immediate refund so I can try my luck again.
