Is this as good as the Shark brand?

I guess it's a cheaper version. Hoover is good for both carpets and laminate. It has an incredibly long lead which is handy. If I had any grip it would be that it's pretty heavy for a small hoover. Still it maneuvers really well. I would recommend it.

I didnt seem to have a hardwood floor adapter in the box. Im also finding it really hard to push round on carpet. Anyone else have the same issues?

On the top of the machine above the roller you will see a rectangular plastic slider. If the suction is really high and making it difficult to move, slide it open. This adjusts the amount of suction applied to the floor and makes it easier to move depending on what type of flooring you're on.
