Great Bluetooth speaker if you want to jam out
I've had the Bose SoundLink revolve for over 5 years and it has been great but wanted a little more oomph when using outside on the patio. This sure does deliver and has the same great sound I'm used to. It's almost a bit heavy on the bass which is crazy for such a small form factor but the sound 50% volume and up it really balances out and sounds great. You can turn the base down through the app. Would highly recommend if your looking for something that somehow replicates a much larger setup but you can still pickup and move around. Have had it a couple weeks and still on first charge cycle so for my usage, a couple hours here and there, mostly used on weekends, this sure delivers. We live near a highway so sometimes it's loud and this allows us to easily hear the music no matter what's going on outside without it needing to be maxed out. Inside it's almost too much for what I need. Two downfalls to be aware of. It doesn't work with all other sound links, totally different app which is annoying. I wished I could pair the max with my revolve to have the music synced inside and out. My SoundLink revolve is already 5 years old, so might just be that model but disappointed either way given how they promote the "SoundLink" branding. Also seems to struggle with lower volumes when controlling up and down from your phone, mine is a pixel for ref. Meaning it jumps quite a bit in volume when clicking up one level around 30%, so fine turning for use inside is not ideal, would be best suited for jamming inside. The SoundLink revolve volume is a lot more linear from low to high where this SoundLink max seems to follow along more of a log scale. I did notice it seemed to increase in smaller increments using the physical button on the speaker. Since I really only use outside, it's not a nuisance for me.

Expensive but Fully Worth the Price
First things first: The speaker IS expensive - and heavy (I honestly don't know how they managed to make it so that it would float). I bought it on sale, but at full price, it's a hurdle. That said, SOUND is the main function of a speaker and this one fully lives up to the Bose reputation for quality sound. I take it all over the place using it when: working in the dusty basement, working from home for background music and streaming shows from my laptop. I does all of these without issue while producing superior sound.I have used it both over Bluetooth from my phone and via wire while streaming. When using via Bluetooth the Bose app allows you to customize the sound a little with a Bass, Mid & Treble simplistic equalizer. (The sound is sometimes bass heavy, so this is useful.) You can also create a custom Name for the speaker if you have multiple Bose sound devices. When streaming video, you will want to use a wired connection to avoid the lag that will result from doing that over Bluetooth. I have not detected any sound quality differences between Bluetooth and wired sound. The sound itself is impressive. the relatively small speaker produces very strong bass, the kind where your hand in front of the speaker can feel the air moving. The speaker can easily fill a furnished room with sound. It is easy to get high volume sound without distortion. The battery last a very long time, losing only about 20% after several hours of middling volume levels. With frequent use, I usually charge it every 1.5 weeks.

It’s Bose
I am an electronic and gadget freak. I like to try new products and I am always excited when something comes out that gets a lot of buzz. Bose has been around a long time and either like them or you don’t. I always questioned the price to value ratio of there products. One thing I can say everything they make is built to last and it’s always quality. Quality materials and a good customer experience. I owned Bose acoustimass back in the day and upgraded to a full system with 301’s and I loved that system. Great full sounds, clarity and bass. I got away from Bose as I got older because the prices were just too extreme for my budget. I have purchased many Bluetooth speakers from JBL, Soundcore, and Harmon Kardon. They all bring something great to the table. Now I saw the new Bose Soundlink max for $100 off during the holidays and I made the purchase. I love this speaker. It’s my go to when I want something to carry around while doing work around the house or just sitting down with a cocktail. This little speaker sounds full and defies its size. Bluetooth connectivity is quick and responsive. I got the black and I bought a third party case to protect it when I’m outside and it looks great. Battery life around 40% volume I got just past the 20 hour mark as advertised. Kick up the volume you’ll obviously get less. If you get down to 20% battery it takes about 4 hours to charge. The buttons are soft and tactile. You have your power button, multi function button you can program, Bluetooth button, volume up and down and track forward and back/pause. Minimalist lighting which I like. When I use this in the bedroom it doesn’t light up the room. I have yet to try snapdragon sound as I don’t use android. The sound I get through Apple Music lossless sounds great. Good clarity size defying bass and great mids. Full sounding and it makes me smile every time I turn this thing on. There’s an app with eq and everything you need to tailor your sound. Bose should take the route Soundcore does and have more eq settings but what’s here works. I love this speaker and it’s my go to amongst all my toys. At $299 highly recommended at $399 still worth it but it’s Bose it’s a luxury purchase. Totally worth it!! Tried so many Bluetooth speakers and this is the best all rounder for music lovers. If you’re on the fence.. go for it! There are louder speakers out there but they don’t have the sound quality this one has.

Upgrade from SoundLink!
We have several Bose products. Love this speaker! Packs a big bunch given it’s size. Similar to SoundLink but even better and it has a handle! Highly recommend!
