I bought two different tripod quick releases. One for Kalimar (Giottos 6E01) is 42mm by 41mm bottom and 34mm by 33mm just under the section that supports the camera. The one for the Vivitar vpt-120se (QB-4W) is 44mm by 44mm and 35mm by 35mm just under the section that supports the camera. I used a caliper to measure this. Both are wider at the bottom and narrow towards the top so when you push in the release it will grab and hold the quick release connected to the camera. Since you didn't say which quick release I measured both. But according to website the Vivitar QB-4W is 45mm by 45mm and the Kalimar 6E01 is suppose to be 41mm by 41mm.
