If i am using a philips steam generator, will this cord holder able to hold the thick cord (the one that deliver steam to the iron piece)?

The steam cord holder is designed to work with most irons. The diameter of the loop where the cord moves through is 1 1/8 inches. If your cord is smaller than that, it will work.

What is the maximum height the clamp will open up to? My table is nearly 2 inches thick.

the maximum opening on the clamp is about 1 3/8".
