but earlier is better, I am not an intellectual to comment on ...
Must for every mother new or old, but earlier is better, I am not an intellectual to comment on a writing about how author wrote this book, but despite of being medic, when I became mother I had my own set of dilemmas, this book definitely solves most of them, plz plz plz never underestimate the authentic wisdom that our dadis & nanis tell us during pregnancy & about bringing up children, they raised theirs hassle free, we in flow of being modern parent forget about the fact that they had more harder family lives with limited resources to "educate"(as French) say it) their children still the generation belong to our parents are more resilient in this harsh world. I remember my mother said to leave alone my new born when I was with her during my recovery period post my baby's birth, I ignored her & I am having hard time making her play all by herself, when I am back & am alone at my home, finding it hard to complete my daily routine. Book is excellent. Must buy

4.5 -- useful for parents, parenting and those looking for a peek into french family culture
I enjoy books that are journalistic. As part of my research into childcare, support, infrastructure and the community in European cultures, I devoured this book fairly quickly. Druckerman brings her well drawn observations and conclusions to light in such a simple, candid and unbiased manner. As someone who has grown up across British, American, Middle Eastern and Indian cultures, I've found her writing very unbiased, her conclusions practical, clever and gosh, it's such an easy read. Had the reference points I could dig into when needed. Rating it 4.5 on a scale of applicability and practicality. Her writing is amusing!

Okayish, drags a bit
Narration is slightly unappealing. Have to scan to get the key messages or learnings from this book. Could have been written better.

Fantastic Book
Our twins were sleeping uninterrupted from 12-8am by just shy of 3 months old based on these methods. They still sleep like magic to this day at four years old. The bed sharing crowd is free to do as they please, but this worked perfectly, and my kids are happy, loved, and well adjusted. I meanwhile watched another young family break all the rules set out in this book and stick to the clingy parent methods, it looked far more stressful on parent and child. The food part of this book is also magic. My kids eat everything, there is no such concept as picky eating in our household. Great book with some great advice, I recommend it to every new parent I speak to.

It is a must!
This book made me company in lonely nights feeding my baby and holding my mouth to not laugh too loud! I wish this book never ended.

Great book
It's a funny book (novel style), and let's face it, spot on: whether or not french parents are the amazing creatures therein described, we should all aspire, at the very least, to be those type of disciplined parents.
