I am confused about how to install this into a regular drywall cavity. No bracket provided? Where should the screws go?

There's holes in the back and they provide minimal screws if I recall. Drywall anchor screws. It assumes you will have something to back it. I just cut a really tight hole and shimmed it in tight. No problems. You could also glue around the edges to make it more permanent.

What is the center of roll rod to back wall dimension?

I no longer have this holder, but it does not hold a Kirkland (Costco) roll. Also, there is no “roll rod”. It has two spring loaded flat tabs on either side that rip up the inside of the cardboard roll. It was hard to insert the roll into the holder, as it would smash flatten the cardboard roll. It was a horrible design.

what wall clamp did you use to install this product, was it the gatco mounting bracket with the spring?

I didn’t choose this product, because it only holds small rolls of toilet paper. I picked another recessed one that didn’t have a cover. I didn’t need a bracket, because there was already a support board for it set inside the wall behind the wallboard.
