What are the dimensions of the ice packs? I want to purhchase and use the gel packs instead of what comes with this vest.

Side packets measure 5 3/8" X 4". Back 10 1/2" X 4". These have a small amount of fluid. I live in North East Texas and they last me approx 1 hr. I researched and the closest size I found is 3OZ packets from U-Line. Comes in a box of 96. Last twice as long.

About how many hours does it take for the panels to freeze?

I always leave them in the freezer over night in a single layer. If they are stacked it takes longer for them to freez

I’m not looking to use this product to cool down. I’m looking for something to ice my back after work. Does this product get cold enough to do that?

The ice packs do. Just lay them on a towel maybe? I use them with a vest when I'm blowing glass - so I use for cooling/comfort. I don't know if you'd get enough cool if you stick the ice in the vest
