I'm impressed so far
I have an apogee jam plus in my tiny studio/office for recording and I wanted a throw away interface for the family room where I have a $150 Ibanez G10 under the couch. The idea was to grab the guitar, plug into an ipad, put on headphones, and play in the family room at night to just tinker around.I got this and was not impressed with the build quality compared to the apogee, but honestly for my use case (not gigging or throwing it around or anything) it is built well enough. It's not super cheap or anything, just not apogee quality (but not apogee price either keep in mind). But then I plugged it in and downloaded the guitar rack? app or something like that, my ipad is downstairs at the moment and I don't remember the name. But WOW, I was impressed with not only the sounds on that app (unlocked when the ipad recognizes that you have the TC Helicon plugged in), but I was really impressed with the sound quality of the device! I would say it is every bit as good as my apogee jam plus.Actually... better. Here's why in my use case. I downloaded Tonestack Pro by Yonac like $70 with all in app purchases, etc. My apogee jam has a sizzling high pitch sound on that app, the TC Helicon works flawlessly. I don't know what's going on there, but I may be bring the helicon upstairs to record with.Plus the apogee only has a gain and headphone jack. The TC Helicon has a volume knob, gain knob, lights up on the front, has an amp output, and a headphone jack output as well. Honestly, if I knew this thing was going to be this good, I never would have spent the money on the apogee. So far, so good, but like any product nowadays I reserve the right to come back and 1 star this thing if it magically stops working within a shorter than expected period of time (too common of an occurrence nowadays unfortunately :P).But for now, 5 stars, impressed with this thing at this price point :).

Combine with phone and the app of your choice to create awesome effects.
This thing is great. I use it with my iPhone, but it will plug into just about anything (computer, Apple, or Android device). The sound that comes out of it is incredible. I plug my headphones into it and use the free “Tonebridge” App (which is not affiliated with the device but easily available). Search for pretty much any song in the world, and bam, the guitar sounds exactly like what was used for that particular song. Anything from Boston to BB King. It’s also very small and light. I adhered it to the base of my guitar. I find it does not draw much power at all from the iPhone. I go for hours and the phone battery barely moves. It has two output Jack’s, one for a standard amplifier and one headphone jack. They can be use simultaneously. It makes an electric guitar truly portable. I can’t imagine what it was like in the old days when you had to plug into an amp and make so many adjustments to find the right sound. This is like magic.

If You’re Buying This To Unlock The TC Guitar Rack App....
....and have IOS13 forget about it. It doesn’t work. I now have a $100 paperweight. Contacted TC Electronics and they were no help. I have plenty of better interfaces and bought this specifically to unlock the app. Oh well....11/20/20 Update - About 3 weeks ago TC came out with an update and it now works as designed. Sounds and feels very nice.

works great, would be even better with an actual manual
plugged it in and it worked right off in Ampkit. my only problem was I didn’t have wired head phones so I switched to Garage Band which would let me use bluetooth headphones. In garage band, I was seeing a flashing red light. Still haven’t found what that means, but I think it’s somehow related to too much gain. When this is going on, it still works, but there’s some degradation, the tone controls and pickup switching had no effect. After some finagling, I got it working in Garage Band, seems it needs very little gain. Also might be nice if the light wasn’t just green and red, so that you’d have some idea how close to the limit you were. Sound quality is excellent. Not too noisy even though there’s no grounding in a phone setup.

Terrible noises and sound quality!!!
This product does not work properly. I got some weird noises and terrible sound all the sudden while using it on an iPhone with various apps. Sound quality when this happens is extremely poor with volume drops and fuzzy weird sound in general. Not cool.

Works Great! Using Android 11 and BandLab
I'm surprised how good the sound quality comes through to my tablet, especially without an amp connected and additional, excessive connectors/adapters.Here's my setup:Bass -> TS Cable -> [TC-Helicon] -> [included USB cable] -> USB Hub (with power pass-through) -> USB Magnet Adapter (2 pieces) -> Tablet (and BandLab app)

Bad static in headphones
Was really hoping to like this thing. Unfortunately I have bad static through headphones. The recorders audio seems fine but it’s unbearable to play. Connected this to amp and plugged same headphones into amp and audio is fine. Spent 20min trying to find any support link or email but nothing on box nothing on website either… giving up and returning to Amazon :-(

This thing is fun.
This little box allows you to play with headphones, and sound like you’re plugged in, or with an app like Tonebridge, or others, you can connect it to your iPhone and have all sorts of effects, or amp combinations. You can even connect it to a speaker, and use it as an effects box for playing “out loud.” I’ve had fun with it. Connection is easy, sound quality is totally dependent on your headphones/speaker cabinet, but it’s a worthwhile purchase, especially during practice. Glad I bought it.
