Gorgeous, saturated, deep black shade. I’ve been dying my hair black for 38 years since I was 15 yr old baby goth, and this is a great color and formula. Covered my streaks of grey/white hair perfectly, although I did leave it on a bit longer just in case. About 50 minutes total. I’m not a fan of the dimethicone in this conditioner because stuff like that can leave my hair pretty dry (I also live in a dry desert). However, the conditioner did leave my hair soft and shiny so I can’t complain.This color seems to stay wet the entire time and I think that’s why it IS messier than most. Wear an old shirt! Lay some garbage bags over your countertops and an old towel on the floor & keep a bleach cleaner nearby with paper towels for any accidental splats on countertops and floors, and just keep away from doors and walls entirely. If you have a box of latex gloves, use those instead of the provided gloves. Also use gloves again if at all possible, when rinsing out in the shower. I can see this absolutely staining nails (I used a clear coat and heavy nail oil in addition to gloves because I’ve dealt with staining in the past)I also suggest having some AHA or lactic acid facial pads & a nubby washcloth available for face, ears and neck, and a loofah or scrubby of some sort for body on hand, because as careful as I am, it still stained my ears, forehead and the nape of my neck and took some real effort to remove. Bonus points if you have an AHA body wash (it stained forearms where gloves didn’t reach).Hope this helps! This hair color is beautiful. Also my hair is about 1/2” below my shoulders, medium thick leaning thin, and one box just barely worked to cover my 3” of growth and former faded black dye.

•I’ve been coloring my hair at home for about 30 years•I have tried almost all of the boxed dye brands, and you would THINK it would just be a matter of choosing a brand that had the color you’re wanting…Sadly, no.I currently have dyed black hair over my natural dark brown with a few silvers that are scattered around my head because apparently they are just as antisocial as the person they’re attached to.So I just need a dye to saturate the brown and cover those grays/silvers. It’s the very least a boxed dye could do! But lately some of the other brands have been shi- - ing the bed on me. The color washes quickly to an auburn brown or doesn’t cover the grays (I’m looking at YOU, Garnier and L’Oréal!).This dye works. It dyes hair. My hair feels soft. It’s black. It’s permanent. Period.It also is not overpriced, which is another thing that’s frustrating me about some of the other brands. YOURE JUST AN AT-HOME DYE KIT! WHY ARE YOU PRETENDING TO BE SPECIAL?! I don’t want to pay $20 - $30 for such things. It’s not that serious.So if you’re just looking for a simple hair dye that works for a normal price point, here’s your kit.

Gotta say I’ve been dying my hair blue black for decades… literally… using the top brands… I saw this color.. and considered buying it.. BUT.. I was nervous because I was not familiar with the brand let alone I didn’t think it could possibly be as shiny as blue black.. LSS .. I decided to get it and it was the best choice I’ve made!! I love this color…. It is way shinier than blue black.!!! And my hair is soft and shiny!! I truly love it, and I will definitely stick with this brand and this color🖤

I switched from Ion Permanent color to this because I was tried of my color washing out so quickly and wanted a new deep blue-black dye that would last. I seemingly forgot how intense box dyes can be, because my hair looks incredible but my bathroom is an utter disaster. Be careful with this stuff! It will stain anything and everything it comes in contact with. My scalp, nails, finger tips, bathroom door, tub, shower liner, and sink counter all fell victim to this dye. Make sure you get to cleaning as soon as you're done, I found a magic eraser and hot hot water worked the best but I will unfortunately have to paint the bathroom door white again. Other than that, it's great! I needed two boxes to cover my belly length hair

Intense, black color. I’ve been box dying my hair black for over 15 years and this may be the most impressive brand I’ve used. It will get all over EVERYTHING. It will stain everything. All black dye will, but I’ve never seen it quite this serious. Fortunately I cover the area I dye my hair in in a big blue tarp, remove towels, flip the shower curtain so the liner protects it, etc, so it wasn’t a big deal…but this stuff isn’t for a first black box dyer. Make sure you cover your ears, neck, and hairline in Vaseline before you begin.All that said, the mess factor is worth it because the depth and the coverage are unbeatable. This is my new go-to.

This is my go to hair color! It is so much cheaper to buy it on Amazon than in the store. I have also had trouble finding this color in the store over the past year. It’s easy to use, great instructions and the conditioner smells amazing!

Good product. Solid black and doesn’t wash off or fade quickly like other dyes BUT please beware that it stains everything.I had to scrub my shower with a magic eraser afterwards to get all the stains out of my shower.I had to get new pillow covers and towels as well

I’ve been coloring my hair various shades for 3 decades- always at-home kits because I’m too cheap to go to a salon. That said- I’ve used most products at some point along my hair journey. This was my first time trying this product and it started fading noticeably after about 2 weeks. I have medium brown hair and used black hair color. The photos speak for themselves. It’s been about 3 1/2 weeks since I colored it. It’s worth noting that I do shampoo/wash my hair daily to keep oil in check. Maybe someone who washes less will get more mileage out of the color but I wouldn’t buy it again. I do like the conditioner it comes with.
