Are the two plastic notches in alignment or is the top notch off centre. They appear to have changed the design, I can not get any bulbs to fit.

g24q-1, g24q-2, and g24q-3 alignment ridges are all in different configurations (centre, left, right). g24q-1 are the centre aligned fittings.

Do the bulbs fit into standard lamp shades {ceiling}

The end of these globes/bulbs are rectangular with 2 pins and are generally for bulk head and fixed position lighting and "push" into position. I don't know of any standard lights/hanginglights with this type of bulb. The lights I have with these bulbs are fixed downlights with 2 of these per downlight. Hope this helps.

This is advertised as 4 pin, yet several reviews refer to its being 2 pin. Exactly how many pins does it have? My socket has 4 holes!

You have to make sure you order the 4 pin, 2 on each side, if it is advertised as 4 pin then that is what you get and they are a hell of a lot cheaper on here than in the shops, e.g. nearly £8 each, ripoff..

Is this bulb the same as the crompton clde 10scw? i grudge paying a fortune for a bulb!

No this is NOT the same bulb. You must replace these lamp with a like for like wattage .
