It will work, though the extra layer will dull the color underneath with a cloudy/milky grayish film and is more expensive compared to other options. I used transparent top sticker layer experimenting with toner foils for a interesting layered effects on stickers, if you don't mind the cloudy darkened appearance underneath. Using thermal laminate pouches would be ideal for best clarity and cost. You would need a thermal laminator which is not so expensive and quite useful for toner foil application. Acrylic spray is another cheap quick option to semi waterproof, specially ink prints on paper stickers. If you plan on outdoor use without uv protection using standard ink, expect the sticker to fade within months in sunlight. Second best would be single sided self adhesive cold laminate sheets, make sure to have a squeegee tool or laminator that allows for cold setting. Can look somewhat faded/dry layer underneath the laminate because there is no heat to assist in full contact adhesion. Deluxe pricey option would be to use clear uv protected vinyl (decal/outdoor type vinyl like oracal brand) has a good contact allowing for optical clarity without use of heat. Thermal laminate looks nearly as good clarity (contrast and colors punch through), and each pouch can be used for two sticker sheets one for each laminate side so you get twice the material.

Can these sheets be used on a laserjet printer?

How do I create differently shaped/sized lables?

You can try a die cut machine like a cricket or other machine like that and you can cut any shape that that machine will allow you to download. With a cricket for example Print directly on the sheet of paper from your printer And then use aXerox copy as a template for your cricket
