I bought this because I had a drain somewhere in my 2004 Chevy diesel and until I could find it I got really tired of jump starting it with my car.. this started it amazingly fast and has started a lot of other things I own with no problems at all !!! And the flashlight is a life saver when the power went out. And it charges my phone quickly this has just been a great little tool in my arsenal!!

A friend suggested this to me because I keep having trouble with my car battery to the point where my car won't start. It happens often and I couldn't keep relying on calling people for help. When I bought this and used it for the first time I wasn't disappointed! It's not too heavy and works great and the flashlight is BRIGHT!! And I love that you can use it as an extra battery to charge your phone too. It's simple, easy to use, and not uncomfortable to handle size wise. Only problem is that it takes a LONG time to charge. Just keep it at at least 50%!

Very good product, practical to use, the charger lasts quite a while

I was sceptical of the functionality of this jump-starter due to the price of $25. Originally I was planning on purchasing a "Batteryless" jump-starter but did not want to spend $125 so I figured I give this one a try and if it didn't work well I would return the unit.But, to my surprise, this jump-started works much better than I expected.I tested the unit on a completely dead 7 year old battery. The old battery will not hold a charge at all.Even the interior dome light was not illuminating.And to my surprise my truck cranked and started like there was a fully charged battery. The start was not a slow crank at all.The battery in my truck is 7 years old and I am aware that it needs to be replaced but I wanted to test the starter multiple times.I started the truck 5 times in a row and it started like I had a new battery installed each time.After 5 starts the battery level on the jump-starter was at 50%, but I believe I used up 50% because the battery is no good any longer.The way the jump-starter seems to work is, the unit detects the voltage, or the state of charge, then it juices up the capicitors with-in a few seconds. If the battery is shot like the one in my truck, it draws the power from the capicitors, the green light goes off for a couple seconds while the capicitors re-energize, and the cycle starts over again.I think I would have drawn less from the jump-starter if my battery wasn't shot.I attached the jump-starter on a fully charged good battery and the green light was solid and stayed lit because the battery was not sdrawing all the power from the capicitors.I have used other jump starters like this in the past and there were several steps that must be completed before cranking to start the car. ... turn unit on, set to boost, wait a couple minutes for the green light, and start. If the start failed on the first try one would have to go through that 3 step cycle again.But unlike older jump-startes, these capicitors re-energize within a couple seconds.Also, with this unit, all you have to do is hit the power button, a couple seconds later the green light illuminates and the car is ready to be started.I am really impressed with Gillaway Jump Starter Battery Pack, 4500A Peak Car Battery Charger Jump Starter for Up to 10.0L Gas or 8.0L Diesel Engine.I plan on leaving the Gillaway jump-starter in the car charged to 75/80% in an attempt to make the unit last as long as possible. (Li-Ion batteries age faster when stored at 100%)It would be great if this jump-starter used exchangable 18650 batteries. Chances are, this unit is actually using a couple 18650 batteries, so if the batteries in this unit ever do fail I will probably be able to replace & solder replacments if needed, but I'm not going to open the case untill required.The Gillaway jump-starter came shipped at 70% batter level. I topped off jump-starter to 100% and 2 weeks later it is still at 100%, so that tells us that it does have a li-Ion battery. If it had a NiCad battery it would not have remained at 100%.Again, I am pleasently surprised and pleased with this jump-starter.It works just as well as a $125 jump-starter.I will update this review in a couple months.

Works grey has gotten me out of jams 2 times now I never leave home without it

Easy to charge and setup. Convenient case to fits in vehicle easily. Much easier than lugging around heavy jumper cables.
