An absolute MUST-OWN for top-feed water cooler owners!
This reusable, washable (dishwasher safe), simple, yet absolutely effective three or five-gallon water cooler jug cap is a "must-buy" for anyone who owns an office or home water cooler. Our family recently made the switch from using water filter pitchers and store-bought water bottles to the office-style water cooler. Tired of constantly buying new filters for the pitchers every three weeks and dealing with the impending slow filtering after just a week, the water cooler was the logical choice for us. About $160 later, we are the owners of a top brand new water cooler (and heater) and two five-gallon water jugs. Water refills are easily accomplished at the retail store, but if you own a top-feed water cooler, you know there is no easy method to avoid spilling/splashing at the very least several cups of water whenever it is time to switch out the water cooler jug. Unless you want to overpay for in-home delivery of your water jugs or pay a premium for the pre-filled jugs that already include this type of spill-resistant cap, then spend the few dollars and make life easier on yourself and your spouse and be happier in the long run. So far so good with the cap. I purchased four, with one in use and three spares. Judging by the quality of the caps, it will be several years at least before I may have to switch to the second one. If you own two water jugs, then two should honestly suffice. I do not use the caps for transport, since the water jugs come with screw-on caps. When I switch out the jugs, I hand wash the one that was on the empty jug and place it on the full jug. Prior to these caps, switching the water jug was a test of speed, agility and physics to try to minimize the amount of wasted water and subsequent cleanup of wasted water from the wall, floor and exterior of the water cooler. I estimate an average of 2-4 cups of water (or more) were wasted each time I switched the jugs, but with these caps, the amount of wasted water is literally reduced to none at best and a few drops to less than half a cup at worst. I no longer have to elegantly balance the slamming of the water jug onto the water cooler with just enough speed to avoid spilled water, but with reduced force so i don't risk damaging the water cooler, the spike that the water jug sits on, or the water jug itself. I now take my time, lift the water jug, gently invert it, and again gently place the jug with the spill-resistant cap on over the spike on the top of my water cooler. If you aren't sold on the idea yet, then consider this: these caps are interchangeable between the jugs that feature screw-on caps and the type that have the plunger caps. There are also no design flaws that other similarly functioning caps have (e.g. there are no "wings" on the side of the caps that prevent the jug front resting completely on top of of the water cooler; there is also no "ball" that the spike must lodge out of place for the water to flow; simply a flap that the spike moves out of the way). So go ahead and add this cap to your shopping cart, and in a few short days, you (or if you're the office manager, then whichever worker changes your water out for you all) will be happy you made the purchase (I would buy at least two; you never know if/when they may stop making these, and you will have missed out on the buy). For the sake of presenting a fair review, I do have one gripe: No Amazon Prime free two-day shipping on this. Then again, I would have paid twice the $ amount for this than it costs, so that is a moot point...

Great money saving design if you use refillable water jugs
We've been using 3 gallon jugs of bottled water for the last year. Needed to quit using tap water do to lead. I purchased these and sealed replaceable caps. The replaceable ones are like the ones that come on the bottles when you purchase them filled new. You still have the peal the lower section off to refill them. These came after ordering the hard plastic replaceable caps. I have not used them again since these arrived. These can be used over and over. They slide on easy and keep the water in the jug - for the most part. I've had a couple of times that I've sat them down too hard and a couple of ounces of water has splashed out in the back of SUV. One time I needed to make a quick tight U-turn and did not have the bottle braced. The bottle tipped over and the cap came off. I could hear the water pouring out, but I was in a place I couldn't stop. Luckily I have a liner in the back area and most of the water went in there. Despite that mishap, I am very happy with the performance of these. I have 3 of them, one on each of 3 containers. It is a great design that I believe will continue to work for years to come.

I wanted something like that for my own water cooler at home
We recently got a Primo water cooler which has a probe which made putting the water bottles on without spilling a hassle. At work, we have a similar cooler with a probe and the water bottles we get delivered there have these caps that block the water from spilling until the probe pushes the small valve in to release the water. I wanted something like that for my own water cooler at home.I bought this product after reading the reviews and I have to say I was not dissapointed! Although I have a screw cap bottle, the screw cap attachment didn't fit, but when I removed the plastic ring on the inside of the cap, it fit the bottle perfectly. It fits snug and when I tried putting the water bottle onto the cooler, the cap did as advertised and kept any water from spilling. The probe pushed the small valve on the cap in just fine and the water cooler works as usual. Putting the water bottle onto the cooler is really easy now with this no splash cap. Love it, and am glad I was able to find this on amazon.

Definitely worth it, but check your bottle opening size before ordering (48mm only).
This only fits 48mm bottles. I purchased a 48mm bottle to go with it at the same time and received a 53mm bottle instead which fits very loosely and won't stay on when water is in the bottle. At first I was upset because I didn't know there were 53mm bottles, but when I measured I found out the bottle was a problem and after that was replaced this works great. If it doesn't fit measure. I returned the original bottle purchased elsewhere and got this from Amazon instead. I can confirm it works very well with this bottle. Bluewave Lifestyle Water Bottle with 48mm Cap, 2 gallonThe cap is a silicone piece (the blue part you see in the picture and the flap valve inside) as well as a hard plastic adapter for threaded bottles. I think the adapter is nylon, but I'm not sure. I wish the whole thing was made out of the hard plastic except the valve though. I think for threaded bottles the single piece is a nicer design. I knocked the silicone part off once while turning the bottle over when it hit my hand. This is the main reason for only 4 stars It leaks a little from the valve when I turn the bottle over slowly so pair it with a bottle you can quickly upend.I really like it and would order one again.
