One of the best classics
Coming from one of the most authentic authoress of the British Romantic Age, Mary Shelly's Frankenstein delves into the repercussions of thirst for knowledge. The plot starts with an epistle of Walton to his sister describing his sea voyage and the story of rescued man called Victor Frankenstein whose knowledge of Natural Philosophy and chemistry makes him a creator of a "Daemon". He relates his story of making this creature who turned his life upside-down. As unbiased as it is, Mary Shelley also gets into the mind and experience of the creature. Though of eight feet, the creature is a new born child who was abandoned without any speech and knowledge of the world. The creature suffers in the hands of the country people, even from the people he has called "my protectors". When disregarded and ill treated by the people he loved, he follows his creator to make a deal with him. But when Frankenstein, out of human instinct, didn't abide to his demand, the creature goes mad with rage and starts killing the people Frankenstein loves. Towards the end when Frankenstein dies in Walton's ship, the creature, having no more purpose of life, goes away. From a reader's perspective, both the characters were well written and well developed. No one can be blamed for their endeavors. They have done what they thought would be the right thing to do. I have my sympathy for Victor Frankenstein but my heart cried for the creature. He has suffering having no fault of his own. The creature was more humane than humans. He has sympathy for everyone even though he has killed people out of sheer rage. The theme of Alienation is so powerfully depicted through the experience of the creature. Even though written 150 years before the concept of existentialism and absurdism were developed, this novel is concerned with mid-20th Century world. Involuntarily, Mary Shelley has prophesied the future of the succeeding generation.Undoubtedly this book has won over hearts all over the world and maintained its value and intensity for three centuries and will keep doing it for the centuries to come.

Classic for a reason!
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is a science fiction novel that explores life, death and the monstrosity of humankind.Victor, in the quest for knowledge(or dangerous obsession for ambition) created a monster, but was it really a monster??The story showcased the yearning for companionship, the desire for acceptance and belonging and what does a little kindness can't fix, only if each one could get an equal share of it!The sync between character's emotions and the changing season is so good and poignant, spring for the happy cheery vibe and winters, quite the opposite. The switch in narrations added an exquisite touch to the story, making it even more captivating. What makes Frankenstein a must-read book is how the author beautifully expresses emotions with just a few words.

All hail Frankenstein
I got this for 64 on a deal.I expected a piece of s***e, with crappy printing and pathetic paper quality. Instead, this thing comes with incredible paper quality (rivaling much more expensive brands) and the font, and its size, is incredible - not so small as to be unreadable, not huge either.Content wise, do not expect this thing to read like a thriller. It was written way back, when even your great great great grandparents were but ideas in the minds of their progenitors. And the movies that have the title 'Frankenstein' in their names do nothing to dispel this notion. But as a story of a man's obsession and how it became his undoing - it is perfect. The prose itself is bleak - much like the story it tells. I love how the emotions are described and they really do reflect what obsession feels like. Sometimes I wondered who the author was describing - me or Victor Frankenstein.Truly worthy of its classic status.PS: Frankenstein is not the monster, he created the monster.

I ought to be thy Adam, but I'm rather the fallen angel.
I loved the paperback cover inspired from the movie Frankenstein (1931). I searched a lot for it and finally got it. Talking about the condition of book when I received, pretty good... Decent printing for the price point and it is the perfect size for outdoor reading, that's what I call a pocket size! Now coming to the core part, the book is no doubt a classic. Mary Shelly has a way with her words that are capable of making us sympathize the devil and hate the angels. This 19th century literature is undoubtedly beautiful in describing the nature as it is and it makes us definitely wish to be there on the damp line of grass on a summer day. Really good character portrayals and character development throughout, It has a lot of 18th century references that would open new doors to another era. Obviously has the flaws of gender norms and sexist plot lines, would have to let it pass considering the timeline it was written. Considered to be a sci-fi and one of the first in it's kind, it does a good job. Again consider the time it was written and understand that people were blindsided to a lot of knowledge and development we had on the past century in science. But, incredibly visionary on a scientific basis. We live in a time where a life from scrap is possible, something the book is based on. Overall the book being a science fiction, takes you through a lot of other emotions as well. So, take a journey with the great scientist Victor Frankenstein and his creation...!Added an attachment (Non spoiler) just to show how the author describes Grief in such a beautiful manner. One of my favourite lines in the book.
