UPDATE to: Alright, but disappointing
UPDATE!!! A rep reached out after reading my review to make things good because I was disappointed. I did not contact them, I made the purchase and used it to teach my son. The picture is current! It has held up very well to my now 4 year old learning to fly. I went up from 3 to 5 stars because it still works like new, the battery is still good, it has no damage at all from a very young beginner. He can now fly more advanced models! After reaching out to me they did everything they could to make my experience good. I had changed my mind about the helicopter already considering everything it has been through and the hours of enjoyment I have gotten from it teaching and watching my little man. I left intact my original review so it stands as my honest review after it arrived. However, after my son asked to try it and everything that followed I feel like I have a better understanding and grasp of the product. This sizeable heli has many uses and will stand the test of time. Extra batteries are available for extending your time and you don't have to tear it down to change them, there is a battery door. Buy this for the right reasons an you will be happy. My original review follows. This is ok for beginners. There is no way to override auto take off and the throttle is spring return to center. To go down you must pull down against that return. The forward and backward motions are slow to react so if you are learning you need extra space. Best out for running into things is to let the stick center and move it sideways rapidly to start a quick spin. Must center or the spin is slow and won't stop directional flight. My 3 year old can fly it though so now I will be buying him helicopters too. DO NOT buy this if you are above novice or you will get angry at your $50 purchase fast! Cannot charge from controller must USB charge. Videos I watched didn't accurately show flight since the control reaction for directional flight is so slow.

Perfect Indoor and Outdoor Play
I bought this SYMA RC Helicopter and I love it. There are so many times that I couldn't fly my Drone outside because of HOA restrictions and FAA restrictions. They Helicopter is a great substitute for it. You don't need to get a license such as Part 107. You just charge it and fly! The battery charges of any usb power bank and it charges so quickly. Have able to charge it off a power bank is a plus!. Don't expect a long range like DJI but it is long enough to fly in a basketball court, backyard, living room even in an office. Trust me, flying this relieves stress and tension. And it is easy to put away. Very simple to use and yet packs a lot of fun. We even have a contest in our office to land it in a certain spot. But we do it in our break time of course. Lol The helicopter is very easy to control. I would say 8+ years old to a grown up man can fly this. It is so stable and it is so light. I would recommend getting extra batteries is you want to fly continuously because this thing is so addictingly fun to use. I have crashed mine to walls and tv and no broken parts yet. it is still working like it was brand-new. For price, it is reasonable cheap and fun to use. It is worth the price. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes to fly toys but doesn't to pay thousands. No license needed, easier to use and play. Note: I did not get paid to write this review. I wrote this review because I like the product and I use it on a daily basis at work. Try it out. You won't regret it because you did. Happy flying. (ooohhh my battery is fully charge now, time to fly again.)

Great for some indoors fun, with a few reservations
First off, I have to compare this product to a previous model that I own, before judging it on its own merit. I have owned a Syma S107 for over 8 years and love the little thing for flying around inside the house. I actually pulled it out after at least a year of not being used and it still had battery power and was able to fly - not much, mind you the 8 year old battery. The thing is still near flawless and has never broken a blade, even during many crashes. Loving the smaller Syma so much is the main reason I wanted to try out the new big brother. It really looks like they just doubled the size and made a few improvements, while also back tracking a little. Some things I love about the new model: Having not only replaceable batteries, but coming with TWO - single biggest thing I love Increased size/weight really helps with flying stability It seems just as durable as the older/smaller model The remote says IR, descriptions says 2.4ghz for remote - all I know is I don't have to point it at the Syma to fly Related to above, great range. What I don't like: They changed the throttle stick from the old model, it is very loose and doesn't require constant pressure Forward/back throttle response is much slower over the previous model, once moving things are fine The battery door needing a screw driver is a bit of a pain The manual is pretty bad and some things relate to the S107 Overall, I've been very pleased with this. My flight time has averaged about 8 minutes of near constant flying before power would start to reduce too much to really fly. I don't normally fly constantly, so I've been able to extend things for more than 10 minutes. I know it can handle a crash pretty well - I was flying 20 feet up in the entry way and it lost power - crashed right down pretty hard with no damage. I do wish they included an extra set of blades, but they are available to purchase. I find it is unfair to compare this to a drone, even at the increased price. They generally do two different things and I sure know my drone doesn't fly inside very well - just as this doesn't fly outside very well. It is a fun little toy and I'm really hoping it holds up as well as its predecessor. My cats also love this thing and won't stop following it around when I'm flying it - just a bonus.

A good flyer.
It's been a long time since I have flown such a simple machine, or toy. I spend most of my time flying drones these days. But, this little helicopter, purchased as a gift for a friend, proves to be a fun little bird. I wasn't sure if it was IR controlled or RF. It has IR on the controller. But, I opened it up and found a real RF antenna. Not a IR emitter. The instructions say for indoor use only. But, I took the copter outside on a relatively calm day, with about a 3-5 mph wind. Just barely a breeze. The copter had a hard time maintaining its location, and moved forward very sluggishly. So, yes, it's an indoor toy. This one is larger than most indoor heli's. So, make sure you have plenty of open space. It flies really well, right out of the box. I didn't have to do any trim adjustments. Very stable. The flight time is very good, for the size battery it has, a good 7-8 minutes. The 'search light' in the nose of the heli is a nice feature. It helped me keep orientation in the dim light. The controller doesn't make any beeps, chirps or boops to let you know if you are changing anything about the controller settings. But, that's okay too. Seeing that there aren't many changes you can make other than trim adjustment. So, all in all, this is a good toy heli. I know my friend will have a lot of fun with it.

This is very easy to fly.
Let me start by saying that this is actually very easy to fly. I cannot imagine what these people are thinking, giving this to a child, and letting them get out in their yard, trying to fly this, and it goes too high, and they lose it, because it goes somewhere that they can't retrieve. I am 66 years old, and have never flown a helicopter. It was very user friendly. I had no problem getting it charged, and up in the air in no time at all. These parents should make their children try it out in the house somewhere. It is not the seller's fault that they are not competent enough to control this product. They even offer assistance, and a 2 month warranty, for those who can't fly this properly or have any other issues. That alone is more than anyone can expect. I let my son fly this and he loves it. He is much better than I, but I was able to fly it, hover, and land without any problems. I had always wanted one of these for myself. I have given a couple of helicopters as gifts in the past, but had never bought one for my own. This has a strong alloy frame, and the transmitter has a 2 channel function, so two people can fly their helicopters together, without cross-talk. This requires 1 Lithium Polymer battery for flight, and even comes with a second one, for longer flying time. It is a very sleek looking helicopter and you can select from a low or high speed. Do yourself a favor. This is actually listed as not suitable for outdoor flying. So keep this in the house. If you want one that can fly outdoors, buy another model. Also stay inside with your child, and help them learn how to fly this. It will not fly itself. I am glad I bought this. I just get angry when people purchase things, and they break the item, and blame it on all sorts of things, or they are just not careful. I have certainly been enjoying mine, and if you can't get it to perform, call the very nice people who have answered all of the negative reviews, with offers to help. What more could you ask for. I must apologize for the quality of the video I posted. It is taken with my cheap camera. I should have used my wife's phone. You will get the idea though. It's just not 1080P.

Worth the fun
Super sweet copter. I’ve buried it many times in the dirt, the sticks and the trees. With dents in the blades from my many crashes it still flies like a champ. A beginner can use it and be happy. I’d say a pro could do the same but I’m not a pro, but I’d still expect them to have fun cause they can do crazy stuff with it. For the battery life I’m super happy, it’s a play toy. It charges relatively quick (an hour or so), and fires right back to life. It functions in all directions and the spot light is pretty sweet in the dark, or when you lose it in the trees to help you find it. Great gift for kids of any age, younger ones should have an adult near by to help them... so they can blame the adult once they get it stuck. Easy to use, fun to play with, takes a beating, worth the loot.

Broke within 1 day - where is support? UPDATED JUNE 2022
Don't know what to think of it: the helicopter is of right size, looks well built, and is easy to operate for a kid. But instructions are incorrect [they seem ''generic'' for all products of the brand and not specific: for example, it doesn't mention that there is a power cable to connect, makes us search for a on/off switch on top when it is below, etc], pairing is a little tricky. Also, weak point of machine is the connection of the blades to axle: bristle clear plastic. This is what broke before the end of day 1! UPDATED Dec 28: even though I signed up for the extended warranty, I am still to receive any email from them confirming registration!!!! It doesn't seem that there is anyway to get in touch with them! UPDATED 12 MAY 2022: After having been able - 6 weeks later - to fix the first part that broke, helicopter broke again early April. Same thing: no support at all. You can get some replies, but they obviously do not read very well English and are not knowledgeable n their product. I am OK with the helicopter breaking: you know what to expect with RC air-crafts! but what is bad is not finding any video on YouTube showing you how to replace a basic broken part, and not having any kind of valuable support. JUNE 2022: Added 1 star, just because they offered me a new one with me paying shipping [I think $25]. BUT: finding out that an easy to break part [the main blade holder] CANNOT be replaced, and service - despite them reaching out - is not what would be expected: clear videos and instructions, clear answers.

It's a fun helicopter and a nice upgrade over the tiny ones.
The Syma S39 helicopter is a fun product to fly around the house and outdoors (no wind). I have experience with the smaller helicopters as I had a couple of them 5 or so years ago. So before you buy, here's what you need to know... Pros 1. It hovers and does not fall from the sky. If you've had older helicopters similar to this, you know that as soon as you let go of the lift, you have a rock falling from the sky. That's not the experience you have with this one. As soon as it achieves lift, it maintains it's lift. You can let go of the controls and it will maintain it's exact position. This will help all of the broken blades and pieces of the past. 2. It comes with two batteries. Flight time is limited between 5 - 10 minutes, but it's not a problem. I found that the time was enough for the fun of using it and enjoying the experience of flying around. 3. The led in the front of the helicopter is fun for "search and rescue". We flew it when it was very dark out and flew very low to the ground pretending we had a "lost people in the deep forest of the grass". My neighbor also had flags in his yard from a cable bury. We flew between the flags (and hit a couple of them along the way. Basically it' was a fun experience outdoors (no wind). 4. Indoors the helicopter is close to perfect. A/C vents and/or ceiling fans will toss it around. It is light. Scared the daylights out of my dogs, they barked and barked and barked. 5. Should something break, there's an exploded view of the helicopter and a list of part numbers so you know what to replace and what the part is called. I personally like this as something always ends up breaking at some point in the future. 6. The controller is very comfortable and resembles a video game controller. Super easy to use. It has settings for (high/low) turbo, the ability to change the trim. 7. The range is really good for the helicopter. We went pretty high in the sky (above a two-story house). At the same time, you get more wind so we were afraid we'd land on someone's house. If you keep it low, then you can cover the distance. At the same time, it's not a huge helicopter so you're likely to not know what the helicopter is doing anyways. So range wasn't an issue for me and I was happy with it. 8. The packaging is solid. It comes in form-fitting styrofoam so you don't have to worry about a shipping company damaging the product. Mine arrived in perfect condition...with some battery juice to give it a test flight immediately. Neutral 1. The documentation could be improved. - It took me a minute how to figure out that the hanging cord was the battery and that there's a port you have to plug it into. - To turn on the helicopter, the documentation says to "open helicopter's power switch". This should read "switch the power on" - There are some items that could be better clarified. Eventually, I figured them out. 2. Pairing the controller. It seemed to take some time to get paired. This is neither good nor bad, it's just something that could be improved. Cons (The reason for a loss of a star) 1. There's a turbo mode (high/low) for the helicopter, but there's not a visual indicated on the controller that shows you it's on/off. It seems like you can hear it in the helicopter, but it was really hard to tell. Switching it on/off wasn't super noticeable. 2. The battery replacement compartment requires a screwdriver to open. This should really just be a simple clip for faster battery exchange. Having to constantly unscrew the battery compartment isn't an enjoyable experience. The goal is to have fun flying as much as possible, not changing batteries. 3. If you want to fly it outside, which I did, you have to have near windless conditions. The helicopter is incredibly light. When I flew it outside, even a small breeze pushed the helicopter back and it struggled to go forward. It'd be nice if it could handle a slight breeze.
