Light weight but strong and reliable poles!
These are incredible value for the price. They are just as good as my other poles which cost 3x as much. The locking mechanism works well, no slip or accidental collapse. The alloy material is very strong making the poles feel very solid in use. In fact, they are much stiffer than my other/more expensive poles. If I were paying 4x or 5x the price then I would want softer foam on the handle. They are 1.5 inch longer than my other poles when fully collapsed. The wrist straps are also a little funny looking though they work ok. I do prefer the more traditional wrist strap design rather than these. The mud baskets stay in place tightly. I never use the rubber tip covers or carrying case, so I can't say how well they work. With mud baskets but no plastic tip covers, they weigh 17 oz for the pair. All in all, I think these are a fantastic buy. They are strong enough and light enough that I plan to use these on my 500-mile thru hike of the Camino Santiago this coming June.

Inferior Faux Trekking Poles
If all you need are some hiking sticks, they will work fine. They even have nice cushy handles and come with extra feet for muddy paths. But if you have achy joints (as I do), you need trekking poles with springs, & these are not what you want. The handles have flex in them, but there are no springs in the base of the poles to soften impact. The manufacturer has molded the plastic bottoms of the poles into a spiral shape to make them LOOK like a spring, but that's just for show. They have no flex in them.Made in China. Pay more money; get some true alpine hiking sticks, & spare your knees.
