The bottom, just bellow the basket broke on the first day. I didn't even fall on them, it broke off in the middle of a run somewhere. I noticed when I couldn't push with it anymore because there wasn't anything to poke into the ground.

These poles are not made by LVWA. The black straps immediately started to fall apart, but the poles themselves are pretty good.

Tip broke off during normal use, day 2- Review Updated
One pole broke below the basket after 2 uneventful (no major falls) days on the slopes. Given the similar review below, and the attached comment, this is not an isolated problem. The tip of the pole appears to be a glued on plastic piece with a metal tip. The plastic snapped, not the carbon fiber pole itself. But, the whole point of buying carbon fiber poles is for lightweight and durability. Furthermore, there is no direct website to the manufacturer to find a warranty or request a replacement. I will reach out to the seller on amazon and update this review with that experience.3/12/15 Update:Contacted the seller through Amazon. Very courteous and prompt response. We worked out a partial refund. I have found in reading that most, if not all, carbon fiber ski poles have plastic attachments that hold the steel ice tip. The plastic assembly can be replaced. Search for "ski pole tip/collet" to find the appropriate product. The do not cost a lot and should be easy to replace yourself if you are somewhat handy. If not, take the pole to a ski shop and let them do it. Anyway, it seems all carbon fiber poles suffer from this issue. In the end, I'm happy to have done business with the seller and enjoy the poles.

Snapped on first day
Both tips snapped off at the same time when poling in very hard snow on the first day I used them. Isn't that in the range of stress they were built for?

SUPER light weight and the thinnest poles I've ever owned
SUPER light weight and the thinnest poles I've ever owned. Price was more than reasonable. The straps are not built into the pole, they have a little hook that I think is meant to detach them from the pole when riding the chair rather than removing your glove from the strap. It looks like it could wear down over time so I don't use them like that. The straps are also pretty close to being too short when you get them around your glove, but it's not that big of a deal. I think I only have about 1" left after I adjusted them. They also came with 2 sets of baskets, big and small which was nice. Grips look like they are dual density, but for a recreational skier with gloves on, I can't tell any difference in feel.

As with other owners, the tip of the pole broke off during the second day of skiing. Not even sure where it happened, found out on the lift. Stay away from this item.
