I only gave this a 4 star due to the quality, flavor, ingredients and that my dog so far likes. the bag was busted open and some of the food spilled out into the box which makes it hard to seal and keep if fresh for my pup. He is s a small breed and I purchased the larger bag due to the better price for the amount. Hopefully the freshness lasts with the side being torn open.

Taste of the Wild was the first brand that ever sat well with my husky. We had gone through 11 other brands before finding them in a different store. Their Pacific Stream puppy was gentle on my boys stomach and must have been appetizing because he finally ate without hesitation and had normal bowel movements once we began with this brand. We were even able to stop medications and adding pumpkin. I love that it comes in other flavors and that they offer canned food as well. It made it much easier when my oldest dog had teeth removed and could only eat wet foods. I was able to stick with the brand I knew and the flavor she enjoyed. Definitely a great natural food, better than others that are much more heavily marketed and promoted.

As part of the review, I was asked to rate the flavor. I like salmon; I prefer it in its more native form though- less dry, less grainy, and more fishy. My dog, however, seems to enjoy salmon in kibble form, fish form, and even oil form. He is less picky than I, as I have also seen him eat grass and drink pool water. There is a current warning that TOTW may be linked to a higher risk of cardiac failure in dogs, so this is likely going to be our last bag of the brand, even though the FDA recommends not changing up your dogs food until more information is available. Our dog is healthy, happy, and has no signs of cardiac failure, so unsure what the future holds for him, food wise. All I know is there were no obvious issues with this food
