Great Sprocket for 2012 Ninja 250R
The sprocket has been on my bike for a few hundred miles and shows no wear so it's made of high quality material and the finish is done well. It is about 2/3 the weight of the stock 45 tooth sprocket that comes on the Ninja 250. I previously installed the 15 tooth front sprocket (JTF516.15) on my bike (the 15 tooth front is still installed) but I still wanted to drop the cruizing RPMs a bit so I bought this. With this 42 tooth and with the 15 tooth front sprocket, the RPMs are ~6400 @ 60mph. The gears are noticibly wider than before which makes driving in town better/smoother. Going up hills is still easy...a 10% grade at 60mph is no problem in 6th gear (I'm 180lbs). The acceleration is not noticibly affected...but I have never went full throttle off the line. The bike does not bog when taking off so this is not too tall gearing for my bike. IMO the 15 tooth front and 42 tooth back sprocket is a perfect match for the Ninja 250.

2025 Kawasaki Eliminator
Paired this rear 42T with a 15T front and bike runs awesome. Note however that the picture listed is not accurate of the actual item I received.

Durable!!
Used on a Yamaha R7 when switched to a 520 chain set up. Lasted years of track and canyon abuse, paired with a JT front sprocket and a DID VX3 520 chain.

Fits perfectly
Easy to install. Looks good and allows the chain to have slack in it.

Perfect for long distance interstate rides
Bought this for my 2012 Ninja 250 as I ride long stretches of highways and interstates to compliment the 15T front sprocket I have. First ride was 1000+ miles through central California. On the flat straights, going 70-75, my revs were reduced to 6k-7k making the trip smoother and less buzzy. As expected, passing and mountain climbing performance was also reduced, acting like a heavy truck vs a light bike. On my second ride, about 800 miles through Nevada, I rode 70-75 again and noted that my gas mileage was the same as going 65-70 with the stock 45T sprocket. Overall, very happy and will continue to use this during long distance rides.
