Great value
I just got a road bike and needed lights. Is this the most powerful light? Who knows. I bought a similar 300 lumen light at the big w mart for $15 and this light (above) was at least double the brightness on the road. It's got 3 modes, direct beam, wide, and strobe. The direct beam is the most useful for me. It lights about a 3 foot area on the ground about 7 feet in front of the bike. The wide beam is useless, unless you are maybe in the woods or in complete darkness. The strobe mode is very obnoxious. I can see that being VERY distracting to drivers, or helpful for bringing on seizures. It comes with several rubber washers to fit bars of different thicknesses. No tools required, and the light pops off easily if you need to take it with you. It also didn't budge once while riding. My other light was hoping all over the place. The taillights are very nice. They are just rubber that you can snap onto your seat-stay bars. They give great visibility from the rear and the side. 3 modes with them: on, slow blink, and fast blink. To "be seen" by cars, this is all you need. To see obstacles on the ground, like others have said on here, the brightness level you need depends on how fast you ride. For me, I ride a single-speed Dawes street fighter and average around 11 mph. This light is enough for me to see obstacles and avoid them (direct beam only).

Best choice for a be-seen light.
The main light is bright, and as the batteries degrade... it gets dimmer so you have plenty of warning to swap batteries. No reason you couldn't use it with rechargeables, but they don't generally perform well below freezing. (and rechargeables don't run down as gracefully as Alkalines do)I think this light is about as bright as I want to use with regular dry cell batteries... It is a great backup to a fancy set or as a primary be-seen-light when you ride thru the city. I use roughly 2 sets of batteries per season in it. (I like rechargeable batteries, but you can't beat the 10 second dead-battery-to-full-battery swap time, low temperature performance of alkaline batteries, and overall dependability of alkaline batteries... plus no silly recharge-cable to misplace or carry with you everywhere when you commute)I have not been thru a good soaking rain with it yet, but the construction seems like it'll be OK as long as it stays pointed down-ish--I'd guess 10-15 degrees or more 'south' of horizontal. The plastic mounting loop seems a little brittle/thin, but only years of use will prove that good or bad... It moves between bikes rapidly (and often at my house!). I like that they used a standard nut in the mount, so if it strips--you can replace it. Also, the nut won't fall out without some effort... I like that too. If you remove the inserts you can mount the light upside down and point it.Didn't really care much for the little red ones packaged with it, but threw them on the tandem for mid-section lighting...

Great light...even better customer service!
Delivery:I received the light set within the 2 day Prime window. Thank you Amazon.Product:The headlight is brighter than my 3 LED Cateye light that I have been using for early (really dark) training rides. The Cateye wasn't bright enough for me to see comfortably at road bike speeds. This Xtreme Bright is much brighter and will do just fine. I may upgrade to the adjustable beam in the future but this one will do the trick for now.The tail lights are very bright as well and mount easily on seat or fork stays or on conventional seat posts. They look well protected in their rubber "suits" enough to weather a down pour.Customer Service:Opened up the really cool box and immediately noticed one of the tail lights were on and when I checked it was dimmer than the other. So the batteries were significantly drained. Sent an email to their customer service on a Saturday so I wouldn't forget and low and behold got a reply that day! They immediately offered to send a new light to replace the one on. I let them know I would have been perfectly happy with some replacement batteries but they said they wouldn't feel right if they didn't replace the whole light. Now that is 5 star customer service.

Extreme Bright is not Hyperbole.
I went for a ride last night, semi-deliberately knowing by the time I got everything done and got out, it would be after sunset. I was blown away by this light. It is so bright. Mounting is a breeze and the included tail light is great. I didn't realize until I mounted, but the light swivels, which means I could have mounted on my front aero bars as opposed to the handle bars. Anyway, could not be happier. I used rechargeable NiMH batteries from a headlamp and they worked fine. Have not tested the battery life but was still as bright after 2 hours as when I started. My only complaint, and it's small, is that there is no slow blink setting on the main light, just a very rapid pulse that I imagine is annoying and distracting to drivers. Would rather have a slow blink that alerts them than one that induces epileptic seizures. But it is useful when you want to be noticed, and otherwise the light itself is plenty bright to let people know where you are.

My wife and I enjoy night time riding when it's cooler
I couldn't be more unimpressed with this light, especially given its glowing reviews. My wife and I enjoy night time riding when it's cooler. I owned a Nite Rider Mako 150 that worked great, but I figured I'd try something different. This light. although supposedly 100 lumens brighter, is not nearly as bright as the Mako 150 and also the beam spread isn't as good; this light is much more direct so it's not as good for illuminating. We used it one night and that was enough. I ordered a Nite Rider 550 for a replacement and let the wife use the Mako 150. This Xtreme Bright light is probably my most disappointing purchase on Amazon. I highly recommend you search for another product. One final thing, the manufacturer offered some sort of freebie crap if you wrote a good review, which is why I think the reviews for this light, in general, are extremely positive. Don't buy it.
