Nice lock that works with my Smartthings HUB and can be controlled remotely
I have used Schlage combination locks before, but this is my first "smart" lock. There are a few to choose from, depending on your needs. This one uses Z-wave wireless to talk to a HUB that supports Z-Wave. (Hubs centralize your smart home automation and have advanced capabilities that non HUB automation may not provide.) I have a Samson Smartthings HUB to control my house smart activities. The Pros: The lock is beautiful. Very eligant and was the style I was looking for. Schlage locks are known for the best in class security. Uses Z-Wave and works with Smartthings hub. (Z-wave is low power so batteries last longer) Easy to install. It simply replaced my previous deadbolt. I spent no more than 15 minutes installing. Connected to my Smartthings HUB with no issues. Add and remove codes remotely You can unlock and lock the door remotely, on a schedule, or some event that your HUB handles. You can have lights or other devices turn on or off when lock is locked or unlocked if you want (controled by HUB). Con: Cost. Instructions for connecting to Smartthings HUB are to minimal. There was conflicting methods from included instructions and online manual. I found no documentation from Schlage or Smartthings on how to setup the lock so I can enter combination codes on the lock from the Smartthings application. The default configuration will only allow lock and unlock from the Smartthings applications and to view the locks current status ( locked or unlocked). I knew that I should be able to manage the lock codes/combination from Smartthings. After lots of searching I found someone on YouTube that walked though the steps to setup codes. Now when someone enters a code to enter the door I am notified on my phone and the name I associated with the code is displayed, so you could know which family member, worker, etc just entered. I would recommend this lock, I will be buying more.

Inter compatibility
This is my 5th Electronic controlled deadbolt lock utilizing a keypad, Biometrics, bluetooth, or RFID and the second Schlage dead bolt with Keypad and Z-Wave technology. Out of all the brands I have purchased and installed Schlage is hands down the best. It was the least complicated and only required a screwdriver to install, no additional drilling required for mounting plates. The ring app gives me feedback directly to my phone if it has been unlocked or locked it works flawlessly with Alexia. I made a video demonstrating how quick the response is to lock and unlock (about 4 seconds) adding a voice code so someone can't just walk up to you window and ask Alexia to unlock. (I used 1234 as a demo voice code only) I can use the Ring app as well to control the lock. A nice feature is I can set the Ring Alarm System to come on when I lock the door and off when it's unlocked. You can give a temp password to a house guest, friend or dog walker and be notified when someone unlocks the door. There is a built in tamper alarm that will sound if the wrong code is entered 4 times, this disables the lock and will require you to wait until the alarm stops or use a key to unlock. You will need a smart bridge to use Alexa or google to control the lock. If you don't have a smart home bridge you will need to get one. This lock Does Not work on Bluetooth or wifi direct. Hue or Ring have smart bridges, that run from $40 to $50 and will allow you to control lighting, thermostats, locks, garage doors, and many more devices. I can even control my hot water heater and monitor for leaks. Schlage, You should have a robust wifi, not for speed but for coverage. If you need better coverage I suggest a Mesh wifi system. They are easy to install and helps with streaming so you don't get buffering when everyone in the house is streaming their favorite shows. I have the TP-Link Deco Mesh WiFi System 3pack. It give great coverage to my Half Acre lot with a 1500 sqf house and a 800 sqf shop, even my RV parked in the farthest corner of my lot can stream on a fire stick. All the products are purchased by me and no compensation has been given. I just like technology when it works for me. Ring and Amazon have great support, there are many videos on You tube that can help.

Doesn't work very well
We had a 15-year-old Schlage lock on our front door that stopped working last week, so I ordered this SCHLAGE BE469ZP CAM 716 unit, which costs three times more than the best-selling digital lock on Amazon, to keep things compatible and uniform. I am a pretty good DIY person with a college degree. I downloaded the manual from the Internet to read and took the old lock out and put it back in twice successfully to practice for the installation. The unit arrived the next day without the backup key, a significant disappointment, but not a deal-breaker for me yet. The only manual was a tiny booklet (4”x4” size with 10 pages including the covers) with simplistic but clear instructions. The new unit looks well-made from the outside, but the internal parts are flimsy for an expensive lock. The installation was effortless at first, but the final part was connecting the tailpiece with the slot in the back of “the inside assembly”. Something was wrong with the “thumbturn” setup, so it can only work if we turn the “inside assembly” sideways. I spent two frustrating hours on a Saturday afternoon struggling to get it to work, but couldn’t. The next day, I tried again and called for support, but it was closed on Sunday. I called them again on Monday, but gave up after waiting for over 30 minutes. It seems like Schlage is a good brand, and its locks are installed all over my neighborhood in the SF Bay Area. However, my experience with installing this lock was quite disappointing. I have to give it 1 star as a warning to other customers. I will return this worthless unit to Amazon and get a working one at Home Depot.

It works well with my Hubitat Hub, lot better than its predecessor, the Z-Wave version.

This is the 5th Schlage electronic lock I've bought (for 3 different properties). It is generally well made and the input pad really does hide fingerprints. In this particular case though it replaces a Schlage lock that simply stopped working after 11 months. Oh well, 1 semi-bad lock out of the 4 previous ones is not bad and they otherwise are reliable, look great, etc.

My experience is way better than these 1-star reviews. For me this model of schlage DOES pair up with my Ring Alarm Base Station properly. Took a few minutes to sync and was visible on the Ring APP. I also had instant abilty to lock and unlock via Alexa on my echo 8. Oh and yes I'm in Canada. One thing other reviews haven't mentioned, this could have something to do with it but a complete guess. Alexa Guard Plus from what I remember only currently works in the USA not for a Canadian Address. I did switch my home address over to a US Address which activated Alexa Guard and switched it back later. I haven't lost the functionality just checked the alexa app it's still there and logging alarm events. I never went back to use the features like activity sounds with sirens or dog barking sounds or away lighting. Not something I was interested in least not yet. MAYBE that's why alexa allows me to lock and unlock this Schlage unit?? Just something for those out there to trouble shoot if they don't have success with other suggestions. I didn't configure or use a schalge skill or another app with alexa than ring which was already connected. Much like other reviews suggest I made sure that the name of the door lock didn't conflict with other devices attached to my alexa or attached to my ring alarm base or lights or speakers or whatever. I also haven't seen anyone mention how this lock works with the Ring Alarm System / Base. I'm very happy that I can lock and unlock and see status of the lock in the ring app on the dashboard. My family painfully leaves this particular door open all the time and I'm the warden walking the halls at night locking the place up. I didn't know for SURE that i could program the lock to disarm the alarm mode once the correct keycode is entered and door unlocks. That's a good feature one less thing to worry about. Makes it easier for the cleaners and the kids coming home from school for example. If you're using the ring alarm app, once the lock is connected it synced the alarm codes over to the door lock. If there are users setup it syncs which is very cool. Saves programming and matches the alarm so there aren't two numbers to remember. I assume as you add new users it syncs to the door. I also swear the door auto-locked at one point which I'm not sure yet how I feel about that. I read somewhere it is a feature and you can disable that if I'm not crazy and it actually did auto-lock. I opened the lock and watched it like a toaster and it never auto locked again. One of the kids I haven't yet given a door code / alarm code he's too little. Only scenario I can think of is if he went outside, it auto locks he has no abilty to get back in. He's not exactly running around by himself but it could present an issue if he locks himself out. I will figure out how to disable if it really works that way or just deal with it. Something to note, once it was installed it wasn't obvious to me at least how to lock the door from the outside. I upgraded from a weiser electronic keypad that had the plastic buttons and a LOCK button. So I thought you had to key the code in to lock and unlock. Instructions didn't say otherwise least I couldn't find it. Upgrading from weiser where there was an easy one button lock function this was going to suck if we had to punch a keycode felt like a let down. I googled it and found an install video where a guy hit the schalge logo to LOCK. JACKPOT locks one button logo on the keypad. Install wasn't too bad but I did have a bit of a moment where I thought it wasn't going to work. The deadlatch (I think it's called) the part that goes into the door had the plate which rests on the side of the door and the deadbolt comes out of. I couldn't see any obvious way to remove it without prying it off and my doors all have the cylinder hole not the plate with screws. So I broke down and read the instructions no mention. I saw the QR code and watched the install video and it showed how to remove it (by prying a screwdriver into it) and put the cylider cap piece on. After rummaging through the parts plastic bag I could see it. So It wasn't totally obvious, one mention in the paper instructions could have saved me grief and I could see someone giving up and returning if they didn't take the time. One final note, the inside door latch is up when unlocked, and left to right when closed. It drives me CRAZY that our newer house with Weiser locks it's the opposite way. I'm used to the common sense of plumbing or gas if the handle is across the pipe it's shut off. I've not been able to figure out how to convert existing weiser locks to the same orientation so I might move to schalge. Maybe they have a patent or something its just a small thing that I prefer and bothers me. Overall happy with the upgrade, the quality, the install. Got some bonus features mentioned above that hadn't completely realized and was a win. I wish I could rekey the lock easy like the weiser locks do, but I've never carried a key to my house since these were installed so it might not really matter.
