Effective, fragrance-free, and surprisingly cost-efficient for a family with sensitive skin
I purchased the 113.6 oz container of Nellie’s Laundry Soda for our family of five. Several of us have sensitive skin, eczema, and reactions to perfumes and dyes, so finding a detergent that’s both gentle and effective has been a challenge. I’ve tried a number of “natural” or fragrance-free detergents in the past, but many of them struggled with stains—especially with three kids who play sports and come home with heavily soiled clothes. Based on the reviews, I decided to give Nellie’s a try and was honestly surprised by how well it performs. After several weeks of use, our laundry consistently comes out clean, soft, and noticeably brighter, with no added scent. There’s no perfume smell at all—just that clean, fresh feeling—which has made a big difference for our household. For tougher odors, I pair it with vinegar in the wash as a deodorizer, and that combination has been a game changer. Another major plus is the cost. The large container lasts a long time, and when you break it down per load, it’s less than half the cost of some other sensitive-skin detergents we’ve used. Pros: • Truly fragrance-free and gentle on sensitive skin • Cleans well and handles stains better than expected • Leaves clothes soft and looking bright • Very cost-effective for larger households Cons: • Powder form may take a little getting used to if you’re used to liquid detergents • Plastic packaging isn't the most eco-friendly • Fine powder can spill if you’re not careful when scooping Overall, this has become our go-to detergent. I’d highly recommend it to families dealing with skin sensitivities who still need something that can handle real-world messes.

Best, cleanest laundry detergent ever
Received a small version of this and its honestly the best detergent. I hate when laundry detergent leaves a strong smell, but this one has little to no smell besides an extremely light clean scent. I especially love it for bedding and blanket washes, I feel like it makes it feel extra clean compared to other detergents and its good for my sensitive skin.

Cleans, Brightens & Refreshes Leaving Laundry Super-Soft
Nellie's is a new brand to me. Honestly, I'm not overly concerned about toxins or keeping things "natural", for me it's if something works. Our household includes people and pets, and we all like clean laundry. Much to my amazement, this stuff has effectively replaced all of my other laundry soaps and boosters, leaving my laundry clean, refreshed, and softer than expected. I'm excited to keep using it. I saw it on a warehouse website and did a web search to learn more. We have hard water (well water) and a septic tank. None of us have skin issues except for dry skin from the well water. I was intrigued by all the positive reviews written about this product and how little of it was needed to achieve fresh, scent-free clean, so I bought this 50-load pack to try it out and my results were fantastic! My first load was a full load of soiled clothing from working outside and two bath towels. I used 2-3 tablespoons (scoop included) to get things clean. I washed it on the "super size" with 2 tablespoons using hot water. The t-shirts (white) were brighter, stains removed, and there was no scent, yet the laundry was refreshed and no hints of dirty, stinky, or unclean. The water had a slight layer of bubbles, but no suds to speak of. The water did get dark with dirty stuff though. The clothing dried with much less lint coming off of the load than it usually has, and everything was soft to the touch. Sort of fluffy in a way that made things like my old fleece jacket seem newer. (I know it sounds weird, but it's true!) The second load was a set of king-size sheets. This too was washed in hot water using two-tablespoons of this product. Again, the results were as before with the bonus of a few blood stains from a cut on my husband's arm being completely gone without pretreating them with any other product. The third load was smaller, a mixed load with one tablespoon (one scoop) of the product in cold water. It too cleaned the clothes as expected, and the load dried with a soft texture, little or no lint, and unscented freshness. My friend who has psoriasis is always looking for products that are unscented, and good for sensitive skin. I immediately let her know about Nellie's and I think she'll like it too. PROS: 1. Super-small amount needed for clean laundry. 2. Using it couldn't be easier. The powder dissolves quickly and completely in any temperature of water. 3. Whites seem brighter after only one wash. 4. Little or no suds. 5. No feeling of residue on the laundry or inside the machine. 6. Laundry is soft to the touch after washing and drying with this product. 7. No laundry pre-treatment is needed for dirt and stains. 8. Eco-friendly and won't harm your septic. 9. Leaves laundry so soft, there is no need for additional softeners. CONS: 1. It is more expensive than other brands. 2. Packaging can get punctured and the product is small (like grains of sand) and could leak out). 3. US buyers may experience higher prices due to tariffs as this is a product of Canada. If you want a high-quality product that gets your laundry clean without perfumes or dyes, is good for sensitive skin, is septic-friendly, removes dirt and stains without the need for a pre-treatment, and leaves your laundry feeling soft and looking refreshed, buy this stuff. It's worth the extra money.

Awesome Laundry Soda
I purchased this on September 29, 2013. I am here to write a review after I just ordered this soda today from a different seller (offering a cheaper price on Amazon). I have used regular laundry detergents such as Tide, Gain, All, and Arm & Hammer until I became more sensitive to fragrances due to a lung disease in progress since diagnosis in 2006. When I moved into my new home last October, I bought a new washer/dryer set that required HE laundry soap. A married couple moved in with me to rent and I told the wife to find HE laundry soap for her and her husband. She bought something that had an extremely strong fragrance. At first, I tried to ignore the scent whenever she'd use it to wash clothes. Until one day, she had guests overnight and washed my bedding in her soap - thinking to have my bed all nice and fresh when I came home from visiting my father out of town. Unfortunately, sleeping in my own bed while breathing in the strong perfume eventually led to a visit to the bronchial airways closing off... and the emergency room... and finally the hospital. It was a most distressful time. After returning home from the hospital, we had the wife throw out her soap and begin using my soap - which was Nellie's laundry soda. While I never asked her opinion about this soda, I know I love scooping out soda when I do my own laundry... I stop to smell the hint of freshness in the powder before placing it in the soap dispenser in my washer. While the tin has lasted me for several months, I use either one scoop or two scoops depending on the size of my load. I find two scoops washes a full load quite well. One scoop will wash well, too. But I prefer to use two for full loads so I can smell the freshness when I move the loads to the dryer. I enjoy using this soda. That's all I can write about - it cleans well, leaves no residue, has no offensive fragrances other than a fresh hint of scent... it's not just for cloth diapers as many of the reviews suggest. It's not a detergent - but has worked well on stains for me so far - including menstrual blood stains. I do suggest keeping a stain remover on hand in case you do need it - but I haven't needed it yet. Happy Laundering!

Good old Nellies
Have tried many similar products over the yrs, (15) & keep coming back to Nellies. Gets laundry clean, even my husbands oil clothing and heavy mud from work. No scent and gentle even on my families sensitive skin & thankfully is what I feel is cost efficient. I did remove one star bc although the packaging may look better, the revamped tops are super hard to open on each use. If you have any hand or wrist issues (Carpal Tunnel, Arthritis, etc) or even just small hands you may have a really tough time opening and resealing as I do. My next find will be another canister to pour the powder into now.

Fantastic Product
Due to skin sensitivities I need fragrance free laundry detergent and due to my own preference I prefer a natural product. A laundry influencer mentioned Nellie's in passing and I'm so glad they did. I used it for the first time yesterday and I love how my laundry came out. One load was washed in hot water and one load was washed in cold water and there was no problem with the laundry soap dissolving in either. It's a fine powder so it dissolved quickly and rinsed away completely. There was absolutely no residue left on my clothes or bedding. It is fragrance free so my laundry smells super fresh and clean without fragrance. In fact everything was soft coming out of the wash. Nothing looks faded, my whites and colors look bright. And it was totally easy to use I just put 2 tablespoons (my loads were large) in the drum of the washer and let it go to work. And the metal tin is great (the lid is a little hard to get off but at least you don't have to worry about it flying off and your products spilling) , no cumbersome plastic jug to carry and now that I've tried it I can buy one of the larger vats of Nellies's and just refill this tin as needed. I could not be happier with this purchase.

Best detergent EVER--
I am a cloth diapering momma and have a limited selection of detergents that I can use with my cloth diapers. I can't use anything with dyes, perfumes, enzymes or whiteners. So products like Tide and Method are out for us. So I found Nellie's and did a little research and found that it is all natural and has none of the yucky stuff in it that we can't use and therefore it is the PERFECT detergent for cloth. It causes no build up that could lead to odors and diaper rash and it rinses clean every time. One spoonful (spoon is provided) will clean an entire large load of laundry and it is HE friendly, we have a top loader and it still works wonderfully. And the packaging is SO CUTE (and eco friendly)! After I found how great it is with cloth diapers, I had to try it on our clothes. So, I started with the smelliest thing I could find (and was about to be thrown away because the smell stain was that bad) so I found my the shirt that my husband had left on the floor a few times and the cat found. I had tried to wash it with our old detergent and some baking soda and a vinegar rinse... it always smelled afterward the washing. (really my cat hates this shirt and we don't know why) With one wash in Nellie's the smell was GONE! So I tried it on my oldest daughters clothes and they came out so clean and fresh and softer than ever! So I ordered some more Nellie's, gave my brother in law all of our old detergent and went exclusively to Nellie's. We also use Nellie's dryer balls so that means we do not use any oils or chemicals on our clothes and I can tell a huge difference in the condition of our clothes, they are always light and fluffy. Greenfeet has great customer service as well. I had emailed them with a problem and my email was answered within minutes and the problem was solved and they were so polite and friendly. I was really impressed! I know the shipping cost seems kind of high, but they do use eco friendly shipping materials-- no packing in plastic bubble wrap or even plastic tapes on the box so if the Earth is a priority for you at all like it is for me, it is SO worth it! I completely recommend this detergent and company!
