Honeywell L5200 works in my 3600 sq-ft house
I purchased the L5200 kit with the L5100 WiFi module with additional window/door sensors. My home is a 3600 sq-ft single level home with a daylight basement. The L5200 is wall mounted in the center of the main level and is able to communicate with all the window/door and motion sensors in the home. I also wall mounted a 5828 remote key panel in the basement near the rear entrance. The installation of the wall mounted units take some time if you want to hide the power cords behind the drywall. If you have pulled wire for other electrical projects it won't be an issue for you.The initial communication set up to the sensors is fairly involved and takes some time, but if you are tech savvy this shouldn't be an issue for you. I'd suggest watching the YouTube videos to better understand the process. I pay a $10/month fee to AlarmGrid to receive emails and text messages for system changes or alarm states. Note that a monthly fee is required to receive text/emails and/or have the system monitored by an alarm company. There is an additional fee for the monitored option. The communication emails/texts can be customized many different ways depending on how much information you want to receive. The systems also allows individual user accounts to be set up with custom communication settings. I have two user profiles, one for myself and one for the rest of the family. My profile is configured to receive system information as well as alarm states. The other profile only communicates alarm states. The system was installed about a month ago and we are very satisfied.

Instructions say easy programming - just about impossible - no concise or clear directions. When we did manage to get one of the sensors working it would not hold the code. Alarm was going off and could not disarm. New code did not work and factory default code did not work. Also does not come with a power cord from the unit to the transformer.VERY frustrating. Also the sensors for the doors and windows are quite large and unsightly.

If you are in the same boat I would highly recommend going online and downloading the following complete Honeywell Manuals
This is a very impressive unit with many, many programmable functions. I am an engineer, but not a security professional so I found the elementary red sheets that come with this unit a bit too terse. If you are in the same boat I would highly recommend going online and downloading the following complete Honeywell Manuals: "L5200/L7000 Installation and Setup Guide" and "L5200/L7000 User Guide." Those will help you over some hurdles and also uncover access to the many features of this device. Also learn the difference between a zone and a loop. I also added the WIFI module to this unit which enables it to get time and weather, as well as to signal out. The wireless range is quite good, and with the addition of the C2W module it also ties in to my old wired sensors. The screen is beautiful and conveys much data. It also allows programming in an easy manner, once you get the knack of it. The door sensors are easy to paint, if you want to match a door color other than white. I'll report more as I dig deeper into more of the features. All in all, I am very pleased thus far.

Buyers beware that wifi module is not included.
I consider it false or disingenuous advertisement to advertise a wireless system, especially for DIYers, that doesn't include the essential wireless component, the Wifi Module communicator that enables the system to "communicate wirelessly! " It's another charge for the Wifi module communicator.

Took me about 3-4 hours total taking my time to program and mount this kit along with 2 other 5816 door sensors and function test it. If you have assistance, are not worried about the sensors being all level or just use the provided stickybacks instead of screws it could certainly be done quicker. I had zero experience with security related products, though I do work in the industrial automation field so it is related to what I do for a living. It is very user friendly so between the manuals that come with it and the plethora of Youtube videos on the L5200 panel, anyone that is the least bit tech inclined ought to be able to install this and get it functioning correctly. I think that taking a little bit of time to plan your zones before you dive off into it will save anyone a bit of headache. I actually programmed everything at once at the panel, wrote on the box what each sensor was and then went and mounted them one by one testing as I went.

So easy!
I've never set up a security system before, but my gosh was this easy. I installed this in a new vet clinic, and with the included sensors was able to cover the areas I needed to. Everything set up easily and the system was running inside of 3 hours from when I opened the package.I did have one snag that took a few days to sort out -- the Master code and Installer code can't be the same. The business owner used the keyfob to arm and disarm the alarm so it wasn't an issue for her, but when staff would try to disarm using the code it wouldn't work.

one star
Great system, very dependable. My review was based on the L5200 system that my neighbor is using. After I had the time to install this system I discovered that the unit didn't have a Wi-Fi or zwave as stated in the product name or image. I have to say how upset I was and finally installed the system but couldn't believe Amazon would allow this to happen.
