Friends to lovers delight
5 stars--WOW4 stars--would read again3 stars--was good, won't read again2 stars--read it, but didn't enjoy it1 star--didn't finish, it was so awfulDelightful friends to lovers romance! Justin's and Libby’s families live next door to each other. When he was a sophomore in high school, he had to stay home with mono, and Libby kept him company, teaching him to crochet. He's always been out of her league, so she's never thought of him as a potential partner. She comes to his birthday party in tight clothes and makeup, and Justin doesn't want anyone touching her.Character development wasn't as central as I like. So much of their relationship was in the past 10+ years, and while the author referenced incidents, I didn't get to live them with the characters. That being said, I love these characters. There was a good amount of worry that it would all blow up (Sylvia, Priscilla, Laura's history), so the HEA is wonderfully sweet. The setting was well done. Enough to intrigue me to look up the Hoyt Arboretum without overwhelming me with details. And yes, fall in the Willamette Valley is stunning. The story was well framed. It starts with Justin's 28th birthday party and ends on his 29th. The main story takes place over 1-2 weeks, but it's not insta-love because they've been best friends for a decade.Do I need to read books before this one: noWould I read more of the series: maybe; this book had a lot of sexCliffhanger: not for this couple, but beware! You meet 6yo Chloe, and she's a primary character in the next book. Seagulls are scary and people need to know that. She's endearing.POSSIBLE TRIGGERSSex: so many scenesLanguage: 122 F words, 60 Lord's name in vain, 41 S wordsViolence: noneFAVORITE QUOTE(S)I don’t like to count my eggs before they’ve been scrambled, smothered in cheese and hot sauce, and wrapped in a burrito.Life without carbs is a stupid life. That’s how much you should love the woman you’re going to marry. You should love her so much that if she were taken away from you it would feel like your rib cage had been cracked open and some sadistic son of a b**** was cutting away tiny pieces of your heart, slathering them in salt, and eating them right in front of you.Trying your best and loving your kid is all that really matters.Friends don’t let friends get eaten by cats.I’d felt like a lump of mashed potatoes in a room full of artisanal organic salad. Yes, mashed potatoes can offer sustenance, and are a cozy, comforting, familiar addition to any holiday meal. But compared to a fresh, crisp, perfectly proportioned salad with ginger zest and an antioxidant-packed dressing, they’re just lumpy, bland, and sad. There are worse ways to spend an afternoon than catching up with an old friend, who is also going to set you up with the sweetest pattern book ever.I’ve got my entire life stretching out in front of me, and I want that life to have fun, sexy, surprising things in it. And that’s not going to happen if I keep hiding and running away.Sometimes you want to be kissed like you’re the only woman in the world, touched like you’re irreplaceable, and made love to with a passion that makes it clear you are the answer to every question, the balm for every wound, the dream that will still be beautiful and true when all the other dreams have gone yellow and faded with time.CRITIQUE (spoilers)What about Sylvia? That wasn't resolved. And Ivan, too.I feel ADHD is misrepresented in this book. I live with 4 who have attention division differences--my husband and 3 children. Nowicki might flit from task to task off the ice; on the ice, he would be laser focused, not getting lost in his own world as Justin sees him. In any adrenaline situation (fight, disaster, sports), you want someone nearby with ADHD because they can make good, instant assessments and tactical decisions. Why didn't Britta get a picture with him? My daughters totally would've insisted on that.I was expecting an Instagram PR disaster from pictures of them kissing at the knitting party. Whatever happened with Priscilla? Did she see the kiss and back off?

Charming and scorching
Super hot, and charming. Libby and Justin have been friends a long time. Justin takes an interest after a breakup, and since Libby changed her look, and asks him to teach her how to be more comfortable with the opposite sex. Let the fun begin! Great read!

Loved this story.
There isn't a lot of emotional turmoil or drama in this novel, but there is enough tension to make things VERY interesting. Libby was timid and inexperienced, but eager to learn, while Justin was eager to assist a buddy. I adored the pairing of these two! I enjoyed all of the characters and am looking forward to reading a couple more stories in this series.

A great romantic comedy!
This was a great story. Two long time friends, a pro hockey player who has been around the block and a kindergarten teacher who gets awkward during dates decide to add "benefits" to their relationship. However, what happens when one of them may want more? It was funny. I loved that the main male character knits and makes a grand gesture worthy of a rom com. It is a fun story. There isn't a lot of angst but enough to keep you engaged. I would like to know why he called his ex but that was the only question that wasn't answered and it didn't spoil anything that the reader didn't know. Would recommend to anyone who likes ROM COMS!

Funny, steamy... as this genre should be.
A true romantic comedy written and edited with professional skill. There's plenty steam involved, as well. Hilarious prose with a sincere focus.RECOMMENDED!

Sweet friends to lovers hockey romance
I like this story and the series it begins. You get a feel for the other players on the Portland Badgers hockey team, but it is not overwhelming. The story is firmly about our sweet, awkward Libby, asking her hottie best friend for help. She has a crush on a guy at work, and fears she is too socially and sexually inept to even approach him, let alone win him over.So she turns to her longtime friend who has no problem with the ladies to give her lessons in dating. Well, of course one thing leads to another, and the lesson turn very hands on.This is a great read for what it is - a short, sexy pick me up type romance. No true drama or cheating - just sorting through insecurities and feelings. 4.7 stars from me!

Good Sports Romance
Libby “Libs” thinks she is the world’s biggest dating failure. Her last date went home with their waitress. She has an ace in the back pocket – her sexy best friend, NHL superstar Justin “Jus.” He owes Libby favors dating back to seventh grade, long before he became a hotshot with a world famous stick. In return for her undying platonic loyalty, all she wants is an easy-peasy crash course on how to be a sex goddess. Justin is a firm believer in teaching by example. By the end of their first lesson, they graduated to a hands-on approach to her education. His hands were all over her, and her hands were all over him. Her hot mouth melted beneath his as he proves there is not anything wrong with the way she kisses. Within a month, he will ensure Libby is confident enough to seduce any guy she wants. Problem is the only guy he wants her seducing his him. - At first, Justin’s language was terrible, and I thought he was arrogant and rude. He was much better around Libby. I liked them together. It was interesting to see their relationship develop. She is a little immature, but he is just what she needs. Their timing was perfect. This is a good read.

Great series starter
Lili has written another steamy and funny read with a childhood friend, best friend's sister, virgin, fake dating and ice hockey trope.Any other tropes to add?I love all of them so can't complain. The steam with these two was amazinggggg, being able to see the tension build from the start when Justin finally starts to see Libby in a different light. Although she sort of forces him to initially when she gets her knockers on display. The fact that these two had a quirky friendship before the relationship really made they're dynamic more humourous in the awkward times.I really enjoyed the whole story and laughed at so many points. It's a classic smutty romance and I wouldn't have it any other way.

It's not a manual but you'll learn a thing or two!!
I love a book that is funny as well as hot as hell; they are few and far between so I really enjoyed this page turner from Lili Valente from page one. Who wouldn't want to learn the carnal ways of the world from a sexy as fornication ice hockey player who knows exactly what to do and you trust your life with due to a shared history. Good then I'll continue! This book is really well written, Lili Valente captures every possible emotion that could course through each of the character's body as they travel this torturous journey together; be they good or bad. As the super cute pairing discover together and separately learning new things are not what they expect either as the teacher or the student and this is brought across to the reader really well. The history of both characters is portrayed well along with the supporting cast who play their parts really well trying to throw spanners into the training regime of the pair.I loved the pace of the book, it moved along really well with the two main characters growing together throughout the story moving to the inevitable HEA.I loved this book and totally recommend it xx

Funny and sexy
OK, to be honest at the beginning I wasn't really keen of it but later on the story grabs you and it's funny and it's sexy and hot. Libby was funny in her insecure way of thinking about getting intimate with someone (pretty sure a lot of women felt similar emotions in some points of their life including myself) and Justin was really cute in trying to help out his friend. It was hilarious for them to think that they can pulled it off , the friends with benefits thing, but hey that's why was so enjoyable. At the end I liked it so much that I am reading the second book Sexy Motherpucker ;)

Awesome Read.
This is my first book by this author and I loved it so much I can guarantee it won’t be the last.Libby is a sweet and innocent kindergarten teacher who has a major crush on one of her colleagues. She’s never been able to seduce men and turns in to a bumbling idiot whenever she tries. She decides to turn to the one man who can show her where she is going wrong her childhood friend and all- star ice hockey player Justin Cruise, he also happens to be stunningly gorgeous and a sex god. So who better to teach her the ways of the man world. Thinking that because of their deep friendship she thinks that nothing could go wrong and when all is said and done they will go back to being crochet buddies.Justin Cruise is shocked to say the least when Libby presents him with her idea, thinking that they are making a mistake but at the same time has this feeling that if he says no he is making the biggest mistake of his life. Saying yes to teaching her how to act around men brings to the surface feelings he had never known he felt for Libby and he knows that the reason that the reason it’s never worked with anyone else was because they weren’t Libby. Now he just has to convince Libby that what they have together is not “Friends with benefits” but love in every sense of the word.I really loved this book and the way the characters felt like I’d known them all my life. You can’t help but route for them. Its sweet and seriously hot. I found myself smiling while I read this story. Highly recommended.

3.5 stars! Lovely read but everything happened and finished too quickly!
It was a good, sweet and funny read! I must admit that Justin way of thinking upset me a bit and I didn’t like how the beginning of the book described how he loved how his ex from 5 seconds was smelling and few other things otherwise I enjoyed this story but in the end it was just too fast and finished too quickly without proper explanation... Mostly about J’s ex it’s like she disappeared or rather the talk she had with Libby wasn’t cleared up for me! I’m jumping straight to book number one because I liked it just hope there was bit more than a insta love and rushed ending!
