Edith Stein: The Life and Legacy of St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross Kindle Edition

Gift to myself. Reading it now. Very interesting.

I wanted to read the biography by Edith Stein but as I knew it was cut when she was arrested I bought this book through Kindle. However, I felt that more information was required. Being Catholic myself I noticed it was too focused or directed to Catholics. I wanted it to be more ecumenic though it includes the opinions of Jewish relatives of Edith Stein's andsome of them attended the ceremonies of canonization in Rome, which is indeed remarkable.

All the works of this martyr for the Christian Faith and a great philosopher of our contemporary times, will one day be hailed by history not only as a great saint but as a very profound and thinker, intellectual, and writer. In her life and works she has bridged the gap between two great cultures, Judaism and Christianity. What a great gift to mankind and to the Catholic Church is Professor Edith Stein, later to become Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross.

We all want to read more about this Saint and her own titles.

I knew the story of Edith Stein and it's so great to get to know her better

Many of the pages were blank. I ordered two books. One for me and one for my friend. The copy I gave her had many blank pages in the book. Now I am trying to figure out how to get it returned and a replacement copy. This is frustrating and time-consuming.

Not many people do I allow to become heroes on my wall, but now I have another to add: Edith Stein welcome to my wall. Now, your story has become part of the fabric of my life...my story!Such a wonderful introduction to Edith Stein....now on to read her books!

The author gives us an interesting and very well researched account of this powerful and unique woman whose life, witness and thoughtful writing help us to truly understand the call and hope it is to be a child of God.

I appreciated the inclusion of a wide variety of sources, especially St Teresa Benedicta in Cruce's own writing as well as the perspective of her family.

J'ai adoré ce livre, très bien écrit et passionnant, qui nous plonge dans la vie de cette femme extraordinaire. Le livre est assez discret sur la vie spirituelle de la sainte, se basant davantage sur les faits historiques, mais on ne peut qu'être touché par le parcours de cette jeune juive, entre la philosophie phénoménologique, ses racines juives et sa découverte de la mystique chrétienne. Il y a en plus des petits crochets sur ses écrits, ce qui permet presque d'être introduit (très modestement) à ses œuvres riches et denses (en tout cas avec l'envie d'approfondir).

Before reading this book, I was unaware of Edith Stein or St Benedicta of the cross. Edith was a strong, insightful, deeply committed woman who we should try to know more about. I will try to find some more about her now that I am aware of her.
