Amazing chow
It’s a bit of a learning curve. Hang on tight to the bag or (like me) it might poof in your face when opened. Mixing using the instructions was easy and straightforward. Good product. If your gifted silkworms this stuff will save you. Good luck!

Nourishes your silkies very well
I love breeding and/or raising silkworms from eggs to feed my critters, and do not have any access to mulberry leaves. I can go through a good amount of chow, so am always looking for the economical option. This is usually it! My baby silkies always seem to enjoy their chow and grow big and healthy on it. While there is of course an odor while preparing, it isn’t terribly strong or unpleasant. I’m not so sure about the instructions for preparing and kind of do things my own way. I like a softer chow, so add a bit more water and instead of cooking for one longer period, I cook twice for 3 minutes, mixing with the electric mixer in between each cook time and then another thorough mixing after cooking is done. It still reaches high enough temps for the agar to firm up well. Do be careful when cooking though as it can get lava hot and sticks to skin. I’ve not tested how long it stays good for in the fridge, but have kept/used batches for about 2 weeks. I store unopened packets of powder in the fridge also, just for kicks and giggles. Oh…I often get my silkie eggs (regular and occasionally zebra) from Coastal too.

Definite learning curve, but ultimately successful
Preparation is easy. Only con is having to use a mixer, and even then just because of the potential for mess. I went through 4 bags of this with 250 worms and never had a problem. Grating is not easy if it warms up even a little, which can make the process kind of gross, but you get over it pretty quick. With the bigger worms, I just started cutting up chunks of it and they didn't mind at all. Be careful not to grate too much on the little ones. I accidentally suffocated some of mine.

It saved the lives of my silkworms!
The food saved the lives of my silkworms who hatched before leaves came out on the trees. I cooked it all up at once and put it in ice cube trays, froze it, then emptied the trays into a plastic bag. It kept well in the freezer and made it easieer to grate. My silkworms ate it because it was the only food they had, but they grew slowly until I switched to leaves. Once they tasted leaves, they didn't want to go back to the food. It was good to have the food available as an alternative to leaves.

Silkworms loved this
I realized after opening the package that I don’t have a microwave safe container big enough for mixing this all at once. Would be cool if you could prepare half the amount in this bag - a resealable container or just breaking this up into two packets would be ideal. The silkworms seemed to devour it though.

Good product, came damaged, was refunded
Bag came damaged and was placed inside of another bag to which a bunch of the powder from original bag ended up on the outer layer making it a mess to open and deal with… but I was offered a full refund and got to keep the item. Holds well for molds, here is a picture of finished product. I will rate 5 stars for the quality of the product. But the delivery was very poor but it was made right with a refund. Was easy to make and store. The hornworms love it. And my bearded dragons will love the hornworms as well.
