I have not found it hot. The breathable fabric and spf work for that. I assume a lighter color might be a degree cooler but can’t be by much. Wasn’t worth it to me I like the black aesthetic.

I think you could. I use it as a sun guard when I'm sailing and have kept it on for short swims. For a rashguard, try buying down a size so that it isn't too loose.

It runs a bit large by design, but it’s a nice fit. I’m 6’2”, 200lbs and a Large is perfect for me. Loose enough to be comfortable but not too loose to look bad.
