WCI DVD Series: Carving the Female Figure: Volume 2

The DVD shows the process of making the figure on the cover. It is narrated by the artist. The problem I have is with the editing. Techniques are omitted. You will be watching some carving and suddenly you see the piece sanded. Then the DVD ends suddenly. All-in-all, it is a little better than "Carving a Figure: The Female Form," but could be much better. One thing that stays in my mind is that lime wood appears very easy to carve.

I've heard a lot of people complain that Ian doesn't show carving techniques. That's correct. But that's not what this disk is for. This is to show methods for achieving particular shapes and dimensions in space. And it's brilliant at that. I've gotten a lot out of this disc, and intend to buy more of them. It's awesome to be able to learn these things from a master.!!

The master at work, Ian, not me, my attempt one could, and has, called designer fire wood. I have a long way to go, but this is an excalent refrence

No video on actual carving the figure. I like to see examples on best way to carve and not just jump from a section to another without actual working on the carving.

This is one of the best books I have seen on woodcarving and gives great step by step pictures I can't wait to try it out.

This is a good follow up to the first one in the series. Very clear pictures. I liked it a lot.
