Is this sight really 6" long as described? And what does it weigh?

It's approximately 4 1/2" long and weighs virtually nothing. I mounted it on my 10/22 and it's like it's not even there. I'm ordering another for my Ruger Mark II target pistol. This is very suitable for mounting on a handgun and it's so easy to use. Here's a tip. The threads on the battery compartment/lid are very fine and hard to align. Lubricate them with something like WD-40 and the lid is easier to screw on. Just take your time screwing on the cover to avoid cross threading.

Will this hold up to the recoil of a 12 gauge?

Not a very tight/pin point for for at on the one I got, is what I am trying to answer. I would spend a little more and get a better red dot sight.

Can't get it zeroed, always sits too high over target. Could it be that it sits too high? AK-47

The hight over the bore is out of spec for some rifles, You will get a zero at mid range but that could be at 100 yrds are futher. the AK is one of the worst for that size scope. Because the bore is below the gas tube. Try a micro dot.
