Eden in colorful words and frameless pictures
An amazing story of peace and love in Haight-Ashbury San Francisco hippy time. All transposed in agonies of lost love, tangled race relations and drug-induced psychosis. The author’s incredible use of words, the pictures she painted with colors of time and loss and hate, and finally love. This is a thinking person’s book. A story to be absorbed and tumbled through like a bowl of beach glass on a windowsill.

Nostalgic Read
This book is very well-written. It is set in Viet Nam era California. It reminded me that kids have a lot to learn and can be extremely gullible. It took me back to that time in my youth. It is very dark. Nothing very good ever happens and quite often terrible things happen. In the end, the story is resolved realistically. Well done.

Don't give in to the temptation to stop reading.
First it should be said that those of you who are offended by strong language and profanities should give this book a pass. Those who can tolerate the language but are offended by immoral sexual situations should also look elsewhere for their escape literature.Eden is not escapist literature. It is not “pibble-pabble.” It is an intricately plotted psychological thriller which brings its many plot-threads to what anyone looking for an HEA ending will find unsatisfactory. Anyone looking for thought-provoking literature will be rewarded.Ms. Naseem goes deeply into race relations, the effect of the Vietnam war on a soldier’s psyche, the nature of friendship, as well as government overreach. The POV shifts regularly from that of a soldier/CIA operative to his frustrated girl friend and back.I was often tempted to put down the book because of the shifting narrative, the confusion of the main characters, and its extremely dark thematic material. Honoring my promise to provide a review was at many points the impetus to keep on reading. In the end it was well worth the read. So if you’re tempted to drop the book—and you will be—stiffen your sinews and carry on. Ms. Naseem will definitely improve as she continues to write. What she’s doing now shows much promise and will have you thinking about it for many days. 4-1/2 stars. Eden

Loose sex, drugs, love, war and racism
If you have problems with profanity and somewhat descriptive loose sex scenes then you may want to pick something else to read. This book is in the era of the Vietnam War with free sex, drugs, love, war and racism all described and some quite graphically. The book is hard to follow at time. And at times you may be tempted to just put it down but if you can make it to the end it is both sad and happy. But it is a nice closure. I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book, through Reading Deals, and I gave an honest review.

Compelling
Having also grown up during the late 60's - this book brought me right back to the feelings and issues of the times. It was clear the author also experienced that era as well and I appreciated the opportunity to go back with her to revisit. The story covered a lot - love, war, drugs, sex, racial questioning, friendship, self-growth ... all woven into an intricate yet plausible plot. I found the book compelling and well worth the time spent reading it.

Painful
And hard. I lived through that period, in a different place and a little older, but I saw what that war and that whole era did to a generation of young men and women. This particular story is extremely convoluted, although a discerning reader will understand what is happening with Harv by halfway through. The stories of Lani and William will take a little longer.
