Cord too short
My only complaint is that the cord is too short. The person who designed this product as well as others similar, must never have used it because it's only about 12 inches. Otherwise, the unit keeps the water from freezing. It's only been used for about a month so I can't say how long it will operate though. Hopefully, more than one season.

Keep the packaging until you test it in freezing temps.
I ordered two HR75 water heaters for bird baths. One works very well, even kept an opening in the gallon of water when temps were 18 below zero in December. I have had this model before, they tend to last two winters. I will have to return one as it did not work, tested it with two different extension cords. I gave this order only three stars because one did not work from the get go. I hope the return/refund process goes well. I am updating my review to say how simple it was to return this item. Thank you Amazon!

Works great!
I have water outside for a cat I am trying to help. I have a house with electric heating pad, food and water. I set up a large glass pan since the heater is large. It is 5:30am, 9 degrees outside and the water feels a little warm to the touch. Birdbath was frozen solid before I remembered that I purchased this item.(I prefer to bring the cat inside, but he is too afraid.)I love the heater and it is working perfectly.

Didn’t even make it through one winter
I used this for my bird bath dish on my railing. I gave it two stars for the two cold months it worked and seeing my birds enjoying having water in the cold Northeast. Unfortunately it just stopped working in mid February and I’ve only had it since November. Also the cord is very short. For how much this heating rock cost I would expect it to last many winters. I would not recommend!Update...I call Farm Innovators to see if I could get a replacement and she told me to try a reset by putting it in the freezer for 1 hour then plug it in without water to see if it gets warm. It did...it’s working again! I raised it from 2 to 4 ⭐️ the cord is still short.

Update on third unit- company does stand behind their products!
Update 6/22: The second one they sent rusted during one season, just like the first, BUT, to their credit, they sent me a third one and this is what I'm going to do. The place where the plug joins the unit has gaps that allow water to go behind the unit and it rusts from behind. So, I'll give the whole thing a couple of coats of Rustoleum then fill the hole I spoke of with electricians goop. This stuff comes in a block at Home Depot and can be stuffed into the hole , sealing it.Old Post: The first one died after three months, it rusted away. They sent another, did the same thing. Now they say "In viewing your picture what is occurring is due to the mineral make up of your water. These units are designed to be cleaned with either vinegar water or C-L-R. These units are designed to be painted so once you clean the rust and build up you may use an outdoor rustoleum paint on your unit. The cleaning or painting has no interference on the performance of your unit." We have a water softener so no minerals... must be acid rain, would you believe?I wrote back to say, "I realize your job is to tell customers what the bosses say, but, honestly, your advice is nonsense. We have a water softener and a large, complex filtration system to fix our hard water. The bath is filled from that system, not the outdoor "direct" system, so no minerals. So, your advice is to flake off the rust and paint it? And how often should that be done, monthly perhaps? How long do you anticipate the thing will last with me chipping off the rust? The unit is rubbish, made from cheap metal, and you should be ashamed to sell it.

good quality, good price
It keeps the water from freezing without getting the water hot. The cord is short but you need an extension cord no matter what.

Surpassed My Expectations
This product appears to be very sturdy and big enough to fully keep my birdbath thawed. The product was delivered extremely fast. So far I’m very impressed with this purchase and would buy again.
