Works as described!
Awesome sleeping bag. VERY large, and the bag with it in it is very bulky. This is not a sleeping bag for hikers by any means. It is a large, comfortable, leisurely and warm sleeping bag. I have used it both in the winter months and now as we get in to spring and the warm months. It is VERY warm, but if you keep the flap open during the warm days its not hot and just comfy. Very durable, stays relatively clean aslong as you don't get stuff inside it, then it becomes a pain to clean. All in all a very cheap, durable, excellent quality sleeping bag. Will buy Guide Gear again.

Perfect for the heat and the cold of a desert even during rain storms in MOAB Utah
Obviously not for backpacking, but the best sleeping bag I have ever used in 50 years of camping. Used it recently in a very rainy and windy MOAB Utah four day car camping trip. It is warm and comfortable and has lots of leg room and arm room for my 250 lb frame and plenty of length for my 6 foot 3 inch height. I put my pillow from home inside the pull cord hood and slept like a baby. On the coldest night, in the twenties, when I didn't have enough clothing to keep warm, I went to be early, and zipped up and velcroed the zipper and slept perfectly while tents collapsed and guy lines and stakes pulled out of the ground from the rain and wind. For those who read it doesn't fit back into its factory compression sack, simply don't try to roll it up, simply stuff it in and use the compression sack to compress the stuffed bag. The zipper does unzip easily, which I consider a feature, not a flaw, after the storm passed and the nights were warmer, the easy-unzipping zipper opened easily when I needed to get more air flow and cool off--even during the middle of an 80 degree day in direct sunlight I was able to comfortably take a nap. I would buy this again and again...and for the price...what true value. Such a rare thing these days. But this is the real deal.

too hot?
If you are looking for max warmth in a non-mummy bag, this is your unit.I camp in the mountains where its cold and damp (30s to teens )and have a hard time keeping warm. Not in this baby. Its smoking hot, nice and soft with good quality zippers and workmanship. Only gripe is that it is nearly impossible to get it back into the bag it comes with. Suggest you get a big duffle otherwise you'll be frustrated repacking it. Its also pretty darn heavy but well worth it to stay warm. I am buying another asap as I gave this one as a much appreciated gift after I tried it out. It would work well as a 3 season bag but is way too hot for summer use.

Huge, heavy, and not acceptable to minus 15 degrees
This bag was purchased in anticipation of a relatively cold weekend Scout experience. Temps overnight were in the low 30s where we were camping with a fair amount of frost on the ground the second night. My son used this bag over an REI 2.5 inch pad in a tent with several other boys and he was cold both nights (meaning, he needed to wear several layers of clothes AND his winter jacket in order to get to sleep... and even then he said he was cold!). In addition, the bag is huge and very heavy. Huge and heavy would be acceptable if it was able to provide a comfortable night's sleep at somewhere near the stated temperature. Unfortunately, it's not able to keep you warm even 15 - 20 degrees above the stated temperature. Disappointing bag.Update as of Oct 2011: The replies to my initial negative comment were absolutely correct. I purchased this bag without doing research on appropriate sized sleeping bags for kids... I was worried about my son freezing on an outing with our old bag. I just went online and read reviews and bought something that looked like it was warm and comfortable for a Scout outing that was forecast to be cold. Saw the positive review here on a minus 15 degree bag and thought I'd found the right equipment. That was my mistake... I should have done more research first. BTW: At the time, my son was ~ 5' 2" and ~ 110 lbs.... not a little kid, but too small for this bag.I actually used this bag this past weekend for a Scout outing. I'm 5' 11' and ~ 190 lbs. This bag was just the right size for me! Don't know temps at the camp site, but when I woke up in the morning, there was frost on the car windshield. I was in a Kamp-Rite tent cot with an REI 3.5 inch pad (BTW: VERY comfortable setup!) and this bag. On both nights, I was warm and toasty. Only time I got cold was when tossing and turning, a body part either got right next to the zipper or if I inadvertently exposed bare skin to air. This bag is what it is: big, heavy, and warm. Would now rate at 4.5 stars.

Extremely warm and comfortable
Lots of room and very warm. We go snowmobiling all winter and like to try and sleep at different places sometimes hotel sometimes in the trailer sometimes cabin, and this bag has never left me cold and the temperatures get really cold where we go im talking -25 F or worse, and having this bag to get into after a long day on the snowmobile is always a great feeling. My buddy bought a mummy style bag that has a warmer rating but he hates it because he can't move his legs in it, this one that's not a problem. I love this bag

Zip lock in not sturdy.
It is very warm bag, save me many times. unfortunately zip lock could be better. And it is pretty bulky too.

Affordable and warm
Used this for a five day camping trip at Zion in late April. The coldest night it dropped below freezing, it was sprinkling, and I still slept with my bag unzipped. I was totally comfy in my sleeping bag liner.I am a warm sleeper and short so I folded the bottom of the bag to give my feet extra cushion and to hold more heat. I would recommend using a piece of paracord to make grabbing the zipper easier.

Big and warm. Again, big and warm.
Haven't tested the limits of this bag but for sleeping in the car in 20 degree temps you will be plenty warm. Most bag's stated temp range is the coldest that you can survive in the bag, not the coldest temp at which you will be comfortable. I think this is too much bag for 40s and above, you will be hot in it. At minus 15 degrees it is likely that you will want wool socks and knit hat etc. I think this bag is best suited to temps from about 15 to 40 degrees. It is BIG. As other reviewers have said you cannot roll it up to put back into its storage bag. You must stuff it in, takes a minute but remarkably it does fit. Zippers and material seem well made.
