It was my secret vice that inspired many tiptoe trips to the fridge for just ONE more teeny tiny piece. Oh the delight of that sweet, marbled confection, both in flavor and texture..of course this was in the 60s and early 70s BEFORE all of these positively awful substitutes used by cost cutting manufacturers today. One day nostalgia hit, but I wanted something healthy too. (notice I did not say that healthy isn't fattening) After a 40 minute search contemplating all of the choices I settled on what I believe is simply the best halvah on the market. Yes it's a bit spendy and by the time it arrived I'd forgotten I'd ordered it...it took THAT LONG...but oh my goodness it was worth it all and I'm ordering again. Luxury at it's natural best, just sesame and honey, food for the gods..and for the lucky mortals who discover Papayannis Brothers brand Halvah... If I could get it in bars like Joyvah makes it would be icing on the..er, well..halvah. Then I could share because I wouldn't have to reveal my whole stash..and it would fit in my purse too! Review: Amazing! - This is amazingly delicious.

Crumbling Halava
This is a great tasting halava, unfortunately it crumbles easily when you cut it, even with the sharpest knife. So if you are planing on serving it ...forget it, unless you don't mind giving your family or guests crumbs.

Delicious but what's with the huge price increase?
I love this stuff. Only two ingredients, sesame and honey. No sugar or noxious stuff to overload my liver and stress my pancreas and adrenals. Chewy but still a little bit of texture like sugar-halvah, filling and delicious. I've been eating a lot of it, serving it to guests and clients. But when I bought it three weeks ago it cost $8.65 per bar, a fair price, even if it would have been a lot cheaper before prices started skyrocketing on everything. Today I go to re-order and it is $13.99 per bar. What to do?

the very BEST halvah
I have had a lot of halvah (plain, chocolate, marbleized, nutty, floss..) and, although I have enjoyed each and every one, this organic halvah with only two ingredients, sesame and honey, is without a doubt the very best halvah I have ever had. I had previously purchased another organic halvah here, made by Achva, but, although it was very nice, I found that it had been made with added palm oil, which is not very good for the health at all, or for the environment (and it also made for a very greasy halvah). Also, original halvah recipes have no need for added palm oil, or any other kind of added oil for that matter, as the oil that drains from the ground up sesame seeds themselves is more than sufficient, and gives halvah that perfect texture that halvah is known for. I was thrilled to find that, not only is this organic halvah healthier with its mere two ingredients, but it actually tastes far superior to all other halvah I have ever had. The texture is that miraculous combination of creamy and powdery that you dream of when you imagine biting into a really nice halvah. And I enjoyed it all the more imagining this might be similar to something that could have been enjoyed in ancient Greece, way before awful things like "corn syrup" and "glucose syrup" were ever invented. The box is small enough to keep you wanting more, so I recommend purchasing several boxes, as I will be doing next time. I have purchased several products from this seller (GREEK PRODUCT) and have been very happy with each, and with the seller's good relationship with their customers. It takes a little while to receive, but appreciate that it is a very special product flying all the way from Greece just for your personal enjoyment, and you will be very happy. Premium halva at a premium price
This is one of the best halvahs I’ve ever tasted. Organic, all natural with only two ingredients....sesame & honey. Has that creamy taste and flaky consistency that is the norm. I find the price kinda prohibitive...actually it weighs 250 grams, not 200 as stated. Still brings the cost to $30 per lb. Highly recommended if you like halva. You owe it to yourself to try it at least once...im sure I will buy again just because it’s so good.

This is the World's Best Halva
The texture is phenomenal, the taste is just right and it is really the best Halva I have had. I have been trying the various Halvas available on Amazon and having grown up with only Joyva, I have found many that I really like. Different regions interpret it differently. I remember getting off a train at Lake Van in eastern Turkey and an old man with a large tin and a big mixing spoon selling his Halva that was excellent - although remembering anything 40 years ago gets a little fuzzy! - The halva at the market in Israel is too sweet IMO. The plastic containers from Lebanon is good but oily - not sure what the oil is - maybe sesame oil or honey but I doubt it. The Turkish mass produced was really pretty good, but this Greek version is just the absolute best. Light texture. So nice to able to order it in and have it delivered to my door and still at a reasonable price. Just tahini and honey- the way it should be and probably what that old man at Lake Van was selling me. Enjoy!

Um
I like halva or halawa. I ate a lot and it was one of the main things we always had at home, after i moved here and they became scarce almost impossible to normally find in supermarkets i went online and i picked this brand because it had the best reviews. The candy itself isn't bad but isn't that good either. However my one star is due to the fact that it's astronomically overpriced. When I bought it it was 11$ for the 200 gm i used to buy 1 kg for not even a 1.5$ .. Isn't worth it, sorry.
