Long Range And Accurate Radar Detector On A Budget
I purchased this Beltronics Pro200 Radar detector to put in my new Mustang GT. I have taken about a dozen trips with it so far.Pros -1) Super long range. Surprisingly long range. I have heard the K-band alert from over 1/4 mile AROUND MOUNTAIN TURNS.2) I have not received a false alert yet. Every single alert I have gotten I have seen a patrol car. Very accurate.Cons -1) The clip / window mount that comes with the device is terrible. On uphill climbs the detector kept flying off the windshield and landing in my passenger seat. I had to buy a sticky grip-pad for the dashboard for this thing to stay in place.2) This detector has a relatively narrow angle of activity. I would contend about 90 degrees forward. Even a patrol car DIRECTLY to the side of me will not cause an alert. Only if it detects a signal from DIRECTLY AHEAD. They do sell 360 degree detectors but they're much more expensive.Overall: 4/5This is a great meter for the price (I paid $152.00). It is accurate, with a long range and I have not yet encountered a false alert. Obviously, the $600 detectors are better, but hardly worth the extra price.

Love it so much bought a second one for hubby!
I have a 5 hr commute each directions on the weekends and tend to have a heavy foot. After reading reviews on radar detectors I purchased this one at a good price here on Amazon. I have had it now for a couple months and it has saved me at least 2 times, so it has by far paid for itself. I do not use it when I'm driving around town so I can not comment on any false alarms there, but for my freeway driving I have only had it pick up a weird reading a time or two, but you get to know when it is false pick-up. Last weekend I was on my way back to my job location and had just passed a bunch of people clogging up the fast lane only going 7-8 miles over the limit but they wouldn't get back in the right hand lane (my pet peeve! Once your done passing get over!!!!) I finally was able to get passed them and just after going around them at about 15-20 the radar detector started going off. I took my foot of the gas and started to slow down, then I see the cop ahead of me pulling off the road, after I went passed him his blue lights came on and he pulled over one of the guys who had jumped out to go around the left hand idiots. I felt bad but I had to laugh! I immediately went home and purchased a second one for my hubby. I know nothing is fail proof but it has helped me!Updated: 5 1/2 months after purchase: The first one has died, I noticed during my past four 5 hr trips it hasn't made a peep. Last night it actually said "service required". Willing to give it another shot, because when it worked it was great, so just ordered another one.

High quality, high performing, exceptional value
The four star rating is based on the following: 1.) I wanted a reasonably priced radar detector. The Pro 200 is just that. I tried a Cobra SPX 7800 and returned it because it was so annoying because of the false alarms and bizarre warning (Like of trains coming when there were no tracks around). I called Cobra customer service and they said it must have had calibration issues -- so much for quality control. I then look for an alternative and opted for the Beltronics Pro 200. 2.) Performance. In my first week I used it around the Chicago area and then on a trip to Central Iowa. The Pro 200 has limited false alarms and seems to pick up radar with ample warning. When I got one of my first warnings, I didn't see anything -- but much to my surprise, the cop was behind me - so that was a pleasant surprise. 3.) Ease of operation. It's a piece of cake. No problem. I do wish the manual (online) and the quick car had a little more explanation, but it worked out well. The ability to adjust the brightness is easy -- and it can be bright enough to see during the day, The volume control is a little strange because it goes louder and then softer, but it's not a purchase killer. The auto volume is great and works well. 4.) Quality of construction. Nice solid unit. Not cheap plastic. 5.) Miscellaneous: The "smart cord" is great -- it has a power and alert indicator -- also a mute button -- there's one on the unit, but depending on where you mount it, you have two good options to mute it. If you can, get the optional SuperCup mount -- it's outstanding. In sum, for the money -- this is an outstanding unit. Solidly built, great performance with some great accessories available.

Good performance, died after 4 yrs of daily use
Bought about 4 yrs ago, died yesterday (March 2021) turns on but is in a constant restart loop. After the first year, I upgraded the windshield mount because the OEM mount suction cups were terrible during summer, kept failing off. Also bought wiring kit to splice into over head lights to reduce power cord mess, links for both below:Radar Mount RJ11 Direct Wire Radar Detector Hardwire Power Cord for Escort Detectors (3005001)https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078H5B1YL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1Car Radar Mount, Crossery Windshield & Dashboard Radar Detector Suction Mount Beltronicshttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0795ZQHR9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1Detection distance great, usually .75- 1 mile detection. Like most <$200 USD detectors - lots of false K band alerts due to blind spot detection systems on newer cars.
