The Last Kids on Earth and the Midnight Blade

I'm 38 years old and love games like Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Monster Madness, I grew up reading The Far Side and have developed a very quirky and morbid sense of humor, so this series is right up my alley. One of the things that impresses me the most about Max's writing is, despite these being for kids, Max doesn't shy away from exploring the more mature and heavier aspects of kids living through a monster-zombie apocalypse. The characters react the way 13 year olds would to losing their families, friends and neighbors while literally fighting for mere survival - they cope the best they can with video games, junk food and daredevil stunts but they also clearly are dealing with serious emotional and mental traumas that manifest believably for each character. The characters are so developed and well written that even adults like myself can find hours of enjoyment in these books.

I got books 1-3 at the scholastic book fair I believe I was in the 4th grade 😭 but it recently brought back memories so I plan to catch up before the new book in November comes out

Fast shipping. This is a really great series. I bought the first 4 books for my 10yo son at the beginning of the pandemic & he was upset with me that I hadn’t purchased the complete series (I wasn’t even sure he’d like this series). He read the first 4 within a few days then found the Netflix series & watched all of that. He always acts like he doesn’t like reading but these books ignited a love for reading in him!

My 8-year old boy struggles with reading and I tried all different kinds of books for him to read but he liked none of them. To my surprise, he loves this series so much that he could spend hours in reading, which he had never done so before. He got so excited with this series and keeps asking me if the new book has been released. This is not a comic book and it has decent amount of contents to read. On the other hand, the illustrations are perfect to keep my son not losing his interest. I would highly recommend this series!

This book and this series is amazing! My 10-year old and I read them together every night, rotating chapter, and I’m hooked! Such great vocabulary, humor, storytelling, and action. Next June’s Wild Adventure.

These are a pretty simple read for a 10 year old. My son can get through them pretty quickly, usually in a night or two. But he comes back to these over and over. I would definitely recommend this series for kids in that 8-11 range. Even if it's an easier read for them, if it catches their attention and makes them want to read, it's well worth it!

My son owns ALL of the Last Kids on Earth books and was not disappointed with this book! He finished it in 3 hours. For a kid that hates, and I mean absolutely despises reading, he loves these books! He has read them all at least 2-3 times. They’re the only books he asks to read on his own. Every other book is a fight to get him to sit down to do his daily hour reading. Hoping this series continues!

My son absolutely loves these books and can't get enough of them! He can't wait for the new ones to be released. He started watching the TV series on Netflix and then got in to reading the books.
