Sound. Sturdy. Stable!
I had a clear goal in mind when I ordered this: to span a bridge between my desktop workstation and the underbelly where my equipment is stashed. I wanted my backups, speakers and cords to be plug-n-play, kind of like a guitar board I've seen used at concerts. When I sit down to write, I want to flip a few switches to turn on my speakers, power my laptop and back up my harddrive - simple, but still needing the write tools to get the job done.MediaBridge has now provided the perfect link between my Seagate harddrive which sits beneath me and the place I've designated to hook up. Now I just connect it once a week and my drive is automatically saved. Simple, clean, efficient. As for MediaBridge itself, I am extremely satisfied with the quality of the cord and its packaging. It arrived promptly in that amazon-type cardboard clamshell that is quickly becoming the industry norm.As others have noted, the cable is thick and durable. Plus, the male/female interface is lock-tight and stable. What more could I really ask for?At first I panicked because the Seagate wasn't recognized by my laptop... I feared it needed the shorty proprietary cable as my Garmin does when connecting to home base. But then I noticed that my computer just needed a few minutes. There's a short delay - I don't know why. But it's not just the MediaBridge that sometimes takes a few to boot up. I'm thinking that's an Acer motherboard issue. The MediaBridge does its job and does it well, serving the exact purpose I bought it for to a T. I couldn't be happier!PS - as a special bonus, MediaBridge provides a booklet with other products and a statement of its corporate ethics. I was quite astounded, actually, and pleased that I had unwittingly chosen to support a company that stands for values that I cherish. I shall be looking forward to buying more MediaBridge in the future, both because they have proven to meet my needs but also because they care about the same sorts of issues that I do. I applaud them for stating this outright.May or may not matter to you in a USB cord but...it's just the kind of thing I'd love to see more often.

Mediabridge/Turtlebeach: Five Star Review. Good Products from Amazon.com
I recently had a need for a couple of USB extension cables. It was to move one of Turtlebeach's X41 wireless Xbox headsets to another place in my entertainment center. You see, the X41 is powered by one of the USB ports in the Xbox, and since I have two Xboxes in my entertainment center, I had an X41 wireless headset connected to each one (2 Xboxes, 2 X41s) so that my son and I both can simultaneously go on Xbox Live for gaming. However, if the wireless X41 transmitters are too close to one another, you get pops, clicks, and dropouts, so they need separation from one another to prevent this interference. As it so happens, I could not move either of the Xboxes from their present one-above-the-other locations on the shelves where they are situated, but I could separate the transmitters from one another, but only if I extended at least one of the hook-ups to its Xbox. Anyway, I got the Mediabridge Hi-Speed extension cable (actually, I bought 3 of them, each one 10 feet long) and used one of them to extend the separation distance between the transmitter hooked up to one of the Xboxes from the one hooked up to the other Xbox (by the way, I also got the necessary TOSlink fiber-optic cables as well as RCA cables to extend those hookups as well). Since the X41 is powered by a USB port (USB jack) on one end of its cable, and one of those little round power connector jacks on the other end, I needed a USB "Extension" cable (male USB jack on one end, female USB socket on the other). Anyway, Mediabridge is the company I went to for the Hi-Speed USB extension cables, and they speedily took my order, had the item in stock, and filled the order quickly. Their website is easy to use. The items arrived quickly, and were perfect for my needs. The items were priced well, and there was a great variety of lengths available. Should I have the need for other of their products, I will gladly order from them. By the way, the Turtlebeach X41 headsets are great, with (simulated) surround sound (digital input from the Xbox), or stereo (analog input), and after separating the wireless transmitters, no pops, clicks, or dropouts.

so it's not completely useless I suppose
Not as described, doesn't work with the devices intended. Works with some USB devices though, so it's not completely useless I suppose...
