Ultimately Disapointing
I like Mallery's work, and this story started out OK. I really liked the heroine, and I didn't have any objections to the hero - at first. But gradually, his obsession on feeling guilty about absolutely everything WORE ME OUT. I am not using the word "obsession" lightly. About half way through the book, I started thinking that if this guy started on meds to treat OCD, his emotional health would take a giant leap forward. Worse, it was spreading. The leading lady was normal and likeable, but by the end of the book, she was indulging in the same weird angst. I could barely tolerate her, either. There was a cute and funny (and way too long) love scene in the middle of the book. Where I didn't buy the housekeeper as the all knowing Yoda that the author obviously intended, I thought the thing about her clothes was mildly amusing. And I like that the Epilogue was set five years in the future.None of these minor points could save this book for me, and it is not recommended.

A very good read!
Although the form of writing in this book was a little stilted and formal, I loved each of the characters and the progression of the story.

FULL-TIME FATHER
The plot was fine, the characters were likeable- but this story dragged on and on. I usually enjoy this author, but not so much with this book.

Happy ever after.
I so enjoyed this lovely story. Isn't a lovely mansion on a cliff above the Pacific Ocean a wonderful place to fall in. I enjoyed the simple, positive story which is a contrast to all the political drama and murders going on in the news. It was nice to drift in the HEA.

Flat
Disappointing. Drags on with repeating the same things over and over again. Yes we get that he blames himself for his wife's death and she is afraid and content not to try....it goes on and on. I've read several of her novels but they were more recent. Definitely apparent this be is almost 20 years old.

Good all around!
Erin and Christie make a wonderful team: When Erin's twin sister died giving birth to her daughter, Erin didn't hesitate for a second. For the last four years, she has been single mother to a wonderful little girl. When Erin finally finds out who Christie's father is, she decides to give Parker Hamilton a chance to meet the child he never knew about. There is instant attraction between Erin and Parker, however, both have their doubts: Parker lost his wife five years ago and never quite regained his footing, becoming somewhat of a hermit and workaholic. Erin - always the sensible one of the sisters - is afraid her attraction to Parker is due to the feelings her twin sister had about the man. While Parker gets to know his daughter and learns to be a daddy, he also learns to live with his past and opens up to Erin. Erin must take a hard look at her life and stop standing on the sidelines in order to find her happiness.I really liked the book. The characters are well developed and mostly believable, only Parker's issue remained a little unclear to me. I just realized that in my summary I didn't mention Parker's housekeeper - she has the most funny scenes of the book. All in all, this book has everything a good romance novel needs. Enjoy!
