Computers for Seniors for Dummies Paperback – January 1, 2012

I was born in the 50's so I never learned anything about computers. I took typing in high school. I got introduced to computers in the mid 90's, but really new nothing more than e-mail. Now, I figured it's time to learn something so I can do more. This book is real informative, easy to read, and with a lot of practice, I might be able to remember what I learn. But I have the reference in case I forget.

I bought for my mom, but she said she was hoping for pictures as it might make it more clear.

I needed help learning to use my computerI liked it because it was easy to understand, it is written in language non users can understandingI would recommend the book to all my friends, and family, seniors or not.It has been a great help to me.

I gave this book to my dad for his birthday along with a new laptop computer that runs Windows 8. I thought this would be perfect because then I would not have to always be explaining to him how to do simple things like use the internet or find something on his computer. Well my dad said its ok but it doesn't go into enough details in things that he needs it to or doesn't even cover them, and then there is some stuff in there that he said is way to complicated and he doesn't even know what they are talking about. Needless to say he will try to use the book on very rare occasions but usually he comes to me for help. A little disappointed but it was worth a shot.

I actually bought this for someone who has been in prison for about 21 years. He doesn't know much about computers so I had to explain a lot to him whenever I wrote about my comuter, which I use a lot. He says the book has taught him a lot, so I don't have to explain many computer things to him anymore. I suspect it would be equally helpful for anyone who knows little about computers. My friend isn't a "senior," but the description of this book was closest to what I was looking for for him.

Had to purchase the other book version, Windows 7 for dummies, that or have her learn alien computer skills? Remember Microsoft's comment about Windows 7...."Its not Vista"? If you are going to learn how to operate an computer for the first time, stay as far away as you can from Windows 8 operating system. PS "Windows 8 for dummies" is an oxymoron.

This was not helpful partly because there was too much info that did not help a senior who had no computer training. There had been a book for seniors prior to this one that was much more helpful because it did not assume the senior had experience with a computer.

I love this book because it explains things where "older" people can easily understand the computer stuff of today. I have some computer knowledge. I did clerical work all during my working career until I got breast cancer and can no longer work. This book helps me be updated with my laptop. I love the book!

Sometimes I don;t understand the terminology and have to call or email friends for an explanation. Between the book and some help I am learning lots but still have a long way to go! So glad I ordered it!

a good book to gift your parents who are getting used to having a computer at their service..tells them how to use one in simple terms

Bought this for my 82 yr old neighbour who has just got his first computer. He finds the book clear although he still thinks there is too much jargon!

As I purchased this manual in order to help a friend learn how to use her laptop for which she is awaiting delivery, I have not yet had the opportunity to use it but, at first glance, I think it will be most helpful.
