Great Product (some specs added)
This stand performs exactly as I needed. The lock port on my laptop is angled downward for some reason and I had to have it raised up to lock it while at work. Before I just had a large book, but this stand gives plenty of angles and actually makes typing much more comfortable, at a slight angle, with the chair height that I use. Some added comments due to some questions I've received:There are four adjustable positions to lock in. There is a knob on the right side that tightens and loosens to four, preset notched positions. A color coded hand chart is given to help choose the best position for your hand size. The angles of each position are as follows:1) Green - 25 degrees2) Purple - 34 degrees3) Red - 42 degrees4) Orange - 47 degrees(Measurements were obtained by placing a magnetic protractor on the left side of the stand at each position)I've had mine set at the lowest (green) position for several months now. The base is quite sturdy for typing; no movement when hammering away at the keys. There are two rubber grips in the front and one long rubber grip in the back that keep the stand held well in place with my four pound laptop on it.

Kensington Easy Riser Cooling Notebook Stand.......The Best !!!!
I bought the Kensington Easy Riser Cooling Notebook Stand, because I have another one that I bought approximately 4 years ago and it is the BEST. Never had a cooling problem from my fans being blocked on the underside of my laptop. Other laptop stands do not provide as much open backspace for cooling. This is very important. I bought another stand before and it blocked my fan causing my fan to go out causing my mother-board to burn out.....not good and expensive having to buy another laptop. This Kensington is adjustable to the right height that I need for my eyes and ergonomically for placement of my wrists for typing. It is secure and doesn't fall down or collapse. Also strong enough for my children to use that are 3 and 7 years old.I bought another Kensington, because I bought a Laptop for my children.I would strongly recommend if you want a stand that allows your laptop fans to run properly underneath, use to elevate your laptop to comfortable eye level, proper comfortable wrists placement for typing, and durable for your children or others to use.Thank You,

Simple and Effective - Good Passive Cooling for Large Notebooks
As a business user of a 17" Dell XPS notebook, I needed a stand which allowed the notebook's screen to act as a second monitor next to my 24" main monitor. This entailed finding a stand large and stable enough for this 8 pound monster that took up minimal desk space, allowing the screen to be brought closer to my seated head position. The Kensington Easy Riser notebook stand does an excellent job in this regard. Basically, it is fairly rigid, allows for an adjustable angle of inclination and has a large open back for passive cooling. Additionally, it provides just enough space under the main triangle formed above the desk surface for a 4" person desk fan to provide even further cooling.Compared to other notebook stands that allow a steep vertical angle between the keyboard and screen (approximately 135 degrees), the Kensington Easy Riser is more simplistic. Unlike these competing products that have a cover over the keyboard, presumably to protect from spills, the Easy Riser is completely open, allowing access the keyboard when my Bluetooth Logitech diNovo Edge keyboard (see review) is not properly communicating with the computer.Overall, I would say this is a very solid notebook stand that is both simplistic and highly functional. The only modification I would make is the addition of a large lip at the front bottom to hold the notebook more firmly. Also, given the weight of the heaviest notebooks, it could be even more sturdy than its already rigid construction.ProsSturdy and stableProvides space savingsVery steep angleProvides excellent passive coolingProvides space for small desk fan for additional coolingConsNo lip on the surface that the notebook rests

Not Satisfactory
I ordered the Kensington Easy Riser. It was through ANTonline.I received in the mail some earphones.I had to pay nine dollars to mail the earphones back and was not reimbursed for their mistake. I sent a copy of the UPS bill of nine dollars to them, thinking that I would be reimbursed. HA! They have real strict guidelines about mailing anything back to them and then you have to PAY FOR IT!!! If you don't pay to mail it back, of course you will not get a refund because you have already paid for the Kensington which I never got.I WILL NOT BE ORDERING ANYTHING FROM THEM AGAIN - ANYONE THAT DOES, SHOULD BE PREPARED TO PAY FOR THEIR MISTAKE!!! They get a zero for service!Marjorie HollemanI couldn't rate the item because I never received it!

Good but ....
This is a good stand: sturdy, high angle, good cooling, etc. but be careful. As others have noted, if the front of your laptop is not square, the supporting lip of the stand may not support it or or it will slip as in my case with a Toshiba. There is not much contact area either. The lip incorporated into the support would be mostly useless in any case. Kensington makes another stand with a port replicator that has full support across the base but is not open to provide the much needed cooling. I fail to see the engineering logic here, but make your own decision.

Excellent Value For Money
We wanted a moderately priced laptop stand to raise up the screens for all the laptops used in our office and tried out a few different products. This one was universally preferred by all our "testers". We have standardized on this model, coupled with a keyboard from Logitech (Deluxe 250 Vista Qualified USB Keyboard - Black). So the entire solution set came in @ about $40/person.This stand is sturdily constructed and folds down to a compact size that would make it easy to carry around (although that wasn't one of our criteria). It also includes a nifty setting "guide" that tells you which setting to use on the stand, based on the size of your palm!

Perfectly serves the purpose!
I got it to use my Lenovo W520 as a second monitor to my 24" main one in my office (so this riser was not intended to be portable). This riser serves the purpose perfectly! I could adjust it as I needed and it feels very solid. I am very happy with my choice.

Good design, does the job well
These are great stands, all the others I've looked at don't promote good airflow under the laptop and many seem intent on also blocking common ventilation areas. The locking system feels very secure and the ledge at the bottom is think and high enough to prevent most laptops falling off, there are two rubber pads near the top on either side with treads to help keep gravity at bay, but still I don't think I'd want to put something with a rounded edge on there like a Dell D430 on its media base.I'm happy with this; it does waste a bit of space behind the unit, but its space I wouldn't productively use anyway on a standard 70CM deep desk. The only real criticism I have is with the Smart Fit thing. It comes with a leaflet with no writing, just images of green, red, purple and yellow hands showing each colour and an angle - there's also corresponding green/red/yellow/purple bands on the joint next to the locking nut and an arrow on the other side, but you have to know what this all means. I think its telling you that the best situation is to have the laptop sit at 25 degrees (with the arrow pointing at the green stripe).

Excellent
Great product. Well made. Love that it can be folded away easily and is adjustable. I don't really use it for "cooling' purposes, as much as as for ergonomic purposes.

Out'stand'ing
My 87 year old Mum was getting was having trouble seeing the keys on her new laptop and getting a stiff neck from looking down at the screen. Solution - the Kensington Easy Riser Stand. Result, quicker typing speed and no more sore neck, so now it's hard to stop her 'Googling' all day.It is lightweight, yet sturdy, easy to set up and pack away. All the laptop's ports and drives are still accessible and ventilation for cooling is excellent. Plus, it has rubber feet, so it doesn't slip aroound and damage my Mum's dining table.I'll certainly buy one of these for myself if I get a laptop, as it also helps to stop my large hands from accidentally brushing the touchpad.Every laptop/notebook should have one!
