The story of the youngest Hunter brother, Tristan, and the woman that helps him run the shelter, Zoey.Tristan had his heart ripped out of his chest when the woman he had been with since high school decided he wasn't enough for her and disappeared to Australia leaving him heartbroken and lonely and picking up the pieces. It's taken a quite a few months but he is almost back to center again. It helps that his job keeps him busy and that he has such a great support system there with Zoey helping him run things.Zoey has been head over heels for Tristan for as long as she has known him. Liking him never affected their working relationship but now that he is single she could stand a chance at catching his eye - if only he wasn't still hung up on his ex. When they are out celebrating his brothers wedding they run into not only his ex, but hers too. And lo and behold, their exes are together!Queue fake engagement between Tristan and Zoey to stave off the weird vibe from Kim and Bear and you have another stellar romance novel by one of my most favorite authors. Pet humor, awkward situations, angst without too much angst, hot sex, anticipation - all of it! Enjoy!

*4.5 stars*Sweet, sexy, sensitive and loves animals! Tristan is the bomb and Zoey knows it! They’ve been co-workers for years but circumstances have them suddenly faking their way out of the friend zone. It is everything Zoey could have hoped for but Tristan... Well, he’s a little slower off the mark. He has his reasons but once they both realize their good friend and co-worker is also hot, that door can’t be closed…“Chemistry is like toothpaste – one it’s out of the tube, it’s not going back in.”Whew… The sparks that (finally) flew for Zoey and Tristan were off the charts! It took some persuading, and some ‘practice’ sessions but it didn’t take them both long to figure out they had something special. I loved how much they liked and respected each other before anything started between them. Not that Zoey would have minded that time be a lot shorter! I don’t blame her, Tristan is all that and more!Throwing in animals with attitude and exes with suspicious motives, this was another delicious addition the series!Oh, and the best character name, like, ever? I have been waiting for Tristan's book ever since we got introduced to him in The Baby Maker. I definitely fell in love with him while reading this book. Zoey has always had a thing for Tristan but he never thought of her as more than a friend until that first kiss that was supposed to be fake but certainly felt very real. They were just supposed to be pretending to be engaged for their exes but is it possible that there is something real there?I have been reading a lot of the pretend boyfriend/girlfriend/fiancee trope lately and The Heartbreaker has stood out from the rest of them as my favorite. Lili Valente's writing just seems to get better and better and it doesn't matter what she writes, I am going to love it. This is a must read for all romance lovers.

Although I didn't connect with this one as much as the first two - this series is still awesome and I love the Hunter men. And to be honest - Tristan as an animal lover - definitely okay in my book!!Zoey is adorable in her crushing on the elusive Tristan Hunter. And the nefarious pining of his ex is one for the books! This story definitely takes some turns thanks to both their exes!As always - Lili's witty descriptors are evident..."...addictively amazing. Euphorically magnificent. Blissfully mind-blowing and utterly and completely perfect..."And once again - the Epilogue is my favorite part of the book.You will adore Luke and I'm hoping a Deacon book is in our near future.

OMG I loved this book and the story line between Tristan and Zoey and how he realized that his true love was working with him and Zoey loved him as well from the beginning and was happy to have a fake engagement and wound up real engagement an fake marriage wound up real marriage after their ex's and had to deal with his ex Kim and her problems in the end they wound up married and had a little baby too. Thanks for an amazing book and Lili is an amazing author

I fell in love with Tristan right away. He is an animal lover and a soft hearted guy.Zoey works for Tristan and has had a mad crush on him since she started her job.nTristan was with Kim, his former fiance, for years until she broke the engagement. She is a real piece of work and easy to dislike.Zoey happens to be exes with Bear, the guy Kim shows up with.This story is at times very funny but also has some sad times. The things Tristan and Zoey do to try to impress Kim and Bear they are together will surely have you belly laughing.I enjoyed this cute story and recommend it to all who enjoy a few good laughs and a HEA.

Tristan and Zoey! What a wonderful tale w/these two. Zoey's been crushing on Tristan for a long time. Tristan's been nursing a broken heart, but he's about ready to come out of his self-imposed hibernation. When circumstances force them together, Tristan starts to think maybe he's been blind to what's right in front of him. When their past tries to spoil their future, Tristan and Zoey discover just what's at stake, and are determined to see where their mutual attraction will lead them.The epilogue was amazing!

I usually like what Lily writes, and I was happy when this book appeared. But, wow, what a snooze. I see that others loved this book, and I wish I could as well, but no, it was boring and the plot sort of never really went anywhere. I don't recommend this book, and wish Lily the best. Lily, not everything written is a hit, but I do appreciate that you keep on keeping on. I look forward to your next book.

Every time I read a book written by my favourite author I am truly blown away. Love everything about every character, every story line and well, everything. Brilliant book to read. Could not put it down. Every story grasps you, from the first word to the very last.

I thought that this was a sweet book with appealing characters and an engaging plot line. It entertained me, but didn’t blow me away. That’s why I gave it four stars instead of five. Irrespective, I definitely enjoyed it. A solid novel, but not Lily Valente’s absolute best.

I really enjoyed this read, but my favourite part, by far, is the epilogue. Luke’s love of socks had me LOL-ing and I love puppies as much as he does. Tristan and Zoey’s story kept me enthralled.
