Excellent choice for my needs
I was looking for a simple pair of bookends for some overflow volumes and began by trying to shop locally. My community is not particularly large, but I still have access to an office supply, big box stores, and local thrift shops, some of which I browsed online to save gas and some of which I visited in person. That led me to discover that I live in a changing world where bookends are apparently no longer stocked in physical stores (even the local franchise of a national office supply chain) and where one young Walmart employee had to ask me what a bookend was and how to spell it before she could search for it on her inventory device. I've long been aware that I am hopelessly out of touch with the modern world, so this discovery was more frustrating than shocking. Resigned to delayed gratification, I accepted the need to acquire what I wanted online. Thankfully, I found these Acrimet bookends at amazon. I can't say I was thrilled at the prices for any of the bookends I looked into, but these were no more unreasonably priced than any of the others and seemed to have good reviews regarding their quality. When they arrived, I knew I'd fortuitously made an excellent choice. These have a very useful nonskid padding on the bottom surface, are shaped in a way to allow one to make maximum use of shelf space (the lower surface of the L going beneath the books and nothing but the upright extending beyond them), feel very solid, seem disinclined to bend, and perfectly suited my needs. I actually got two pair, which are now supporting a partial set of Great Books of the Western World atop a smooth wood (oak?) bookcase and twenty-four volumes of Great Ideas Today annuals on the textured surface of the otherwise fairly pointless architectural shelf above my foyer. I mention these details only to make clear the size and relative weight of the books being held and the nature of the surfaces they are in use on. I think these would actually work well in almost any shelving situation, with most books up to a standard textbook size. I would probably not try them on any taller or larger books than that as they are fairly small. The padded bottoms both protect the surface they are on and reduce sliding, the design and material resist bending, and only the smallish dimensions impose limitations. Recommended.

Good, Unobtrusive Bookends
I bought these because I needed some new bookends for the top of a bookcase. They work well to brace up a stack of books and the material on the bottom provides grip so that they don’t slide off. Being right-angled in shape, they don’t have a tab or edge to hang off and so work well to create a flush edge with the end of a shelf. They’re also slim and not too tall, so they can fit in narrow spaces or be used hold Blu-ray cases without standing up too tall. The metal appears durable without being too heavy, so they should be easy to use for anyone.

Perfect, functional bookends
The media could not be loaded. I wanted cute bookends to hold up a lot of books in our nursery, but obviously also needed them to be functional, and actually hold up the books…but that is shockingly hard to find, so I prioritized function and am so happy I did because these bookends work perfectly (see video) and even come in many colors. The light blue is a nice gender neutral color and should work well as our toddler gets older. They have a good weight to them and you cannot beat the price!

Recommended with a caution or two
I had to post this while the shock was still fresh after hearing an odd, high-pitched swish-like sound while sitting here at my computer. The fright came from the tumbling and multiple crashing sounds after the cookbooks that had been resting between these bookends atop my refrigerator tumbled over and crashed down onto the counter beside it. On the way down they took with them the magnetically-secured organizer holding sale flyers, pens, scissors, and misc small tools on the refrigerator's side far side.I can see into the kitchen from my desk but it happened so quickly that I can't recall if the sight of the books' tumbling over or their sound as they tumbled and crashed brought realization of the cause of that high-pitched swish. It must have been the squeal of the anti-slip pad beneath the end that didn't hold as it slid across the top of the refrigerator under the weight of the books before it finally fell over. The addition of a foot on each outside end would go a long way toward making them tip-proof.Otherwise, these bookends are perfect: their cost was reasonable and their silver-tone color coordinates nicely with the pulls on my kitchen cabinets. I recommend them for sturdier books as long as care is taken with the front-to-back placement of longer or taller books, and esp if they have thin covers which many cookbooks do today.

Sturdy and a Great Price
I wanted some sturdy, nicely priced book ends for a bunch of baby books. I was hesitant to buy any of the baby themed ones since while pretty, they never seemed to be very sturdy. These are great:1. They come in an array of different colors (FYI - the purple one is more of a lavender color).2. They do a great job of keeping a decent number of books in place. The cushioning on the bottom keeps them steady and it's sturdy metal but obviously there must be a limit. I would not try and put 30+ hardcover books between them. If you are worried about book size, maybe get two sets and put them back to back.3. They are well priced.

Perfect Weight and Sturdy Bookends!
I purchased these in Purple. I am so glad I did. They are the perfect size to hold my cook books in my kitchen. I have purple accents and these are the perfect shade and look like they belong instead of using black or brown. They are very sturdy but light weight. I highly recommend them in any color!
