OMG if I could only get this thing to work properly!
I've spent too many hours trying to get this thing to work properly. I even had several of my colleagues try to get it to work properly and we just couldn't do it. Software requires Pixl Shader, which from my understanding does not come on standard laptop graphics cards, nor is it Mac compatible. Even without the software it wouldn't connect with the "basic, simple to follow instructions." The commercial and promo video on the JVC website is very misleading. Other issues with this product:-No battery included (AC power only, must buy battery separately)-No lens cover! Not even a plastic piece to protect the lens!-No easy setup, AT ALL!

Network connectivity is good. But it tides to drivers only work from a windows PC, which makes it dependent on it. I wish it could be more modular and be an independent entity on the network without depending on the windows driver to find it, on the network.

Pretty good for one of the first cameras to do what it does
We ordered this camera to see how it would do in a live video streaming environment in our church. Although the directions are a little tricky, they are not impossible and easy enough for someone who knows their way around network settings on a computer. To set this up, you first connect the camera to your computer using the included LAN cable, making sure the switch was in the LAN position before powering it on. Then you go to your "Network Connections" by searching from your Start menu or finding it in your control panel. Then you right click on your 'Local Area Connection" and choose properties. In properties, find the "Internet Protocol Version 4" in the list, select it and hit the "Properties" button below the list. Check the box that says "Use the following IP address:" and follow the directions in the guide by putting in an IP address between 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.254 and fill out the subnet mask info according to the guide. Hit OK and open a Internet Explorer (IE9 or later) browser window and follow the rest of the info in the guide. This is just the part that isn't explained well enough in the guide. As far as the camera goes, Video quality is sufficient, but remember that it only has digital zoom x4, so any zooming will actually degrade the video quality. At x4 zoom, the picture can be somewhat grainy. For us, this is no good because we need the camera to zoom in further and still retain it's quality. So we will probably upgrade to the JVC GV-LS2Also note that the Pan and tilt functions only work when you are zoomed in as they're basically just moving your view of the zoomed video. Both the PC application and the iPad app worked great for us in our testing, although you can expect a little delay with both, but less with the LAN connected PC application.Altogether, this is a nice little camera that can do things no other camera out there does in this price range. But for us, it doesn't fulfill what we need it to do.
