It gives you an estimate of length
It gives you a rough estimate within a few meters or 10 feet at longer lengths. I was hoping for more accuracy

time and money saver
I use this meter on the job site almost every day it saves me time and removes any doubt about weather a wire is long enough to make a run or not just subtract the 3% and it will fit.I use it to check wire length on spools and in conduit just tie 2 wires together on one end of a conduit and divide by 2 to find out how long the conduit run is real handy tool very accurate

No #1 or #3 AWG Size on Dial
I did not notice this does not measure #1 or 3 AWG which are common wire sizes for electricians. Considered keeping it to use for the sizes it does have but it just registered 0' on the larger gauges I tried. Smaller seemed to work so I don't think it was user error. I returned it.
