American Flyer Luggage Pemberly Buckles 5 Piece Set, Metallic Blue, One Size

I ordered this set for a number of reasons. First and foremost, my old suitcases were old and literally breaking apart. Also, I saw the the great reviews on this set and its fantastic sale price (as of now the price went up a bit to $157 from when I ordered it at $142). But regardless, considering its originally priced at $420, its definitely a steal. And once I ordered this set, I was very pleased with the super quick shipping: my package came a full week early than the beginning of the expected shipping period! I know this might not apply to everyone depending on location, but still! The luggage set arrived in one large box, with each smaller piece placed inside the larger one. When I opened the box I initially thought that they were sending the pieces one by one, but then realized they were all inside each other. I ordered my set in blue (there are other color options on other websites if you just give the title of the set a quick google search, like green and pink) and I have to say the color is really fantastic. I was originally nervous about ordering the set in blue instead of brown, because I thought it would be a little too flashy for me, but thank god I didn't. It's just the right shade of blue and yes it is metallic in that it does have a sheen to it, but nothing too over-the-top. It's just a lovely, respectable shade of blue. However, when the pieces arrived I was a little disappointed by the size of the suitcases. The first suitcase is a good size, and they all do expand, but the second suitcase is rather small and the third suitcase is tiny, basically the same size as an extra large backpack. While this might be ok for other travelers, I've never been one to travel light, so I do think I'll have to use additional luggage pieces when I do travel. Also, the fifth piece, the 'cosmetic satchel' is basically a purse. As a guy, its not something I would use, so instead I gave it to my mother as a belated Christmas gift instead. Of course, if any guy wanted to use the cosmetic satchel/purse, that'd be their decision. But still, in the picture of the set it didn't look like a purse to me, so I was annoyed that I had to give it away considering I paid for it in the set. I wish that would have been made more clear in the description or pictures. These qualms aside, I would still have this set a 4-star rating. The quality of the material is very, very nice. Much better than my previous suitcases, which was your standard K-Mart/Walmart suitcases. From the color to the detailing to the overall construction, you can tell it was made with excellent craftsmanship. If it weren't for the smaller size of the pieces and the inclusion of the purse (at least for me), I would have definitely have given this set a 5-star rating. I'm even thinking about buying a second set for the extra suitcases, even if I have to give away another purse!

I read other reviews on this set and really researched other sets. But the color of the brown/blue along with the 5 sizes was really appealing, so i went for it!Not disappointed! We used this for a flight to Florida and 6-day bahama cruise. We checked the 2 larger suitcases and brought on the plane the traveling duffel, bag and smaller rolling suitcase. The smaller bag fit perfectly under the seat and the other 2 fit perfectely in the overhead.As one other reviewer mentioned, the color of the bags are more blue with brown, but the duffel and tote are brown with blue. Then when you use the extra 2" space unzipped to allow more room, that is the contrasting color, but it really looked nice!on the ship the nesting feature was perfect, as there isn't much space in a room on a cruise, so it fit nicely under the bed.The blue color did pick up a little dirt on the bus transfer back from the ship to the airport, but such is life. I got many compliments on this set in the airport, on the ship and standing in line at customs! And, my boyfriend wasn't embarassed by the matchy-matchy set, given that the colors weren't too girly!Oh, one other thing, the extra space that you can unzip was just the right amount for the gifts we broght back with us!Negatives: we (I) overstuffed the shoe storage and the nylon rope ripped in two of the suitcases....but that was my fault...i mean i REALLY packed that spot. Thinking back, it probably would have been ok if i let out that extra 2" then :/Also, i didn't have any problems with the luggage tipping, as one other reviewer mentioned, with exception of the rolling duffel...but there is no stopper feet on that piece, so it was kind of anticipated.All in all i really love this set! we even let my boyfriend's 22 year old daughter borrow a couple of pieces for her trip to Vegas then London for work and she thought it was really cool looking! we will see how it performs when she gets back!

I've had my eyes on this luggage set for a year or so and finally took the plunge. I wanted the green set. The price kept fluctuating and I finally got them for a really good deal here on Amazon for just over $100, when most other websites were selling them for $300-400! I thought these were more of a teal-green color but they're actually more like an emerald green color. I still love the color. The set is so nice, durable, and roomy! I kept comparing the dimensions against the carry-on requirements for most major airliners and I would be able to take 3 of these 5 bags as carry ons. I'm a family of 3.. one adult, two children... and the carry on bags plus the largest suitcase is more than enough for all of our stuff and bringing back souvenirs. Heading to Scotland soon so I will be taking full advantage of the extra space!Update: on the way back from Scotland, we had a layover in Washington DC. Something on their conveyer belt in DC was ripping everyone’s luggage or scratching the hard luggage! So I now have a 6” tear in the back of mine I’m going to have to cover with an iron on patch. So disappointed!! But EVERYONE’S luggage was ruined!! So keep that in mind when you buy your luggage… do you want a deep scratch or a tear that needs covered up when american airports destroy your luggage…
