Q: Is the silymarin standardized to 80%?

The curcumin-phospholipid complex in Thorne’s S.A.T. is 20-percent curcuminoids, so there are 30 mg of curcuminoids in each capsule. The milk thistle extract in S.A.T. contains a silybin-phospholipid complex, which is standardized to contain a minimum of 30-percent silybin or 45 mg per capsule. Although the milk thistle is not standardized for silymarin, silybin is one of three flavonoids that comprise silymarin and is the most active of the three. Absorption of the curcuminoids and the silybin is significantly enhanced by complexing it with phospholipids.

No. This product is vegetarian, but not vegan. It is not vegan because of the leucine in it, which is listed in "Other Ingredients." The source of our leucine excipient is duck feathers; however, no ducks are harmed during the collection of the feathers; rather, the feathers are collected as the feathers fall off naturally.
